Hard to believe we’ve already reached 200 of these comics. It seems like 100 couldn’t have been THAT long ago. It’s so great to be able to mix and match all these characters.

I started with somewhere around 20 and I’ve WAY more than doubled that. For this week alone I made up 4 new ones. Space King (“Star Lord”), Admiral Star (“Sailor Moon”), and Sadistic Squirrel (“Rocket Raccoon”). These are the characters in this comic. I also made a “Gamora” character, but I didn’t end up using her.

Enough of this let’s get to the…

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.2 Review

First the most important question. Is it as good as the original? No. This was near impossible to achieve though. Granted this is a VERY good movie. It is VERY funny. There’s good news and bad news for comic book movies in general:

Good news: I doubt there will be a bad “Marvel” movie again. They seem to have figured things out.

Bad news: I doubt there will be any comic book movie that will crack the top 5 ever again. In case you’re wondering they are:

  1. The Dark Knight
  2. Avengers 1
  3. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
  4. Guardians Of The Galaxy 1
  5. Deadpool

In the case of most of these movies you can’t recapture the magic. Of course I hope I’m wrong. “Vol.2” is a deeper movie with bigger stakes, but it’s not a “tight” as the original. Sometimes it feels like we’re stopping to look at things. Like the director is saying “look at this isn’t it great!”. One thing I liked a lot is that these characters don’t hesitate to kill. It’s arguable that even “Baby Groot” catches a body. It’s not as good as the original, but it’s still very good. Of course go see it if you haven’t.

Tomorrow we continue the 200th comic celebration with 200B. Admiral Star (who I’ll get more into tomorrow) meets Special-Girl it’s less than friendly. Hope you enjoy and see ya then!

I’m going to change my plans for the 200th comic. The story I had in mind has become bigger and I need more time to develop it. What I plan to do now will be a few of these comics to introduce my version of “Sailor Moon” and the other “Sailor Scouts”. In fact I finished the design of my version of “Sailor Moon” for this comic last night. Her name is Admiral Star.

 On to this comic. I’ve been wanting to bring back Q-girl and Spiderous-Man for while. I couldn’t find the right story for them until now. The whole “The Mindy Project” thing came from me finally wanting to see what was going on during the last season. I then realized I had only watched half of the season before. “Mindy” is always a show I root for because it started as a good show. It always get screwed up though. People who aren’t funny (Mindy’s friends?) keep getting added to it. They not only aren’t funny in their own right they hog up time from the good characters. Oh well, I hear next season it ends anyway…

I’m actually skeptical about “Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2”. I read a review on cbr.com that said it was more or the same from the first movie. It wasn’t exactly a negative review, but not super positive. The original movie sets quite a high bar. I’d put as 4th best comic book movie period. To me “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” beats it by a hair. I’m talking tenths of a point. It has a better post-credit scene and I like the darker tone. Can it actually be as good as or better than the original? Guess we’ll see this week…

I’m think I’m burying the lead here though. So this comic is two pages. I saw 2 big problems with the comics the way ther were before.

  1. The font could be easier to read
  2. Trying to fit all the word balloons made it hard to know what to read next

I addressed the first problem by changing the font and increasing the size. The 2nd one was simple, but took awhile to come to. Why cram everything in one panel? “Criminal And Crimefighter Conversations” was suppose to be a one panel comic. Why does it have to be though? If I have to edit a good chunk I what I want to write and the comic is still hard to read why do it this way. Would it take more time? More than likely not more than resizing word balloons over and over to try to fit everything. So I’m going to use two panels when I need to and I hope it makes a better reading experience.

Tomorrow Special-Girl gets a lesson about living together from couple with some experience. That couple is Q-girl and Spiderous-Man so she should take it with a grain of salt. Hope you enjoy and see ya then!

The Toy Shop That Is Writing Superhero Comics

In some ways making these comics is like playing with toys. I see some of the older stuff and rediscover characters I haven’t used in a while. Then I’m like “oh yeah these guys are fun”. That’s what happened when I these guys in the “secret group”. This is “secret group” is like the “Illuminati” group in “Marvel”.

It fun to explore what happens when you mix all these geniuses with a dumb guy like Slowku. Tomorrow, all these guys return to talk desserts and Common of all thing.

  • Like the new font I used for this comic
  • Find this new font easier to read
  • Or like the old font better/ easier to read

I decided to try out a new font after someone commented that one of last week’s comics was hard to read on Facebook. The knee jerk reaction is to get defensive, but then I thought about it. Could the comic be easier to read with a different font? The font I used before was one I created using YouFont.com. I thought it was a happy medium between drawing in the letters by hand, and using a computer font.

I then went and did some searching and found a few fonts I liked. Then out of those fonts I chose the one I felt was the clearest and easiest to read. I’m going to do some more searching and find new fonts for the title of other elements of these comics.

Secret Empire… Even A Shield Around The Earth Can’t Protect Us From It

Moving on, Marvel’s newest big crossover started last week with “Secret Empire” 0… Sigh! Can we skip to the part where “Captain America” is normal again and not a “Hydra” agent. Also “Marvel” can we not have a crossover for AT LEAST two years. Everybody gives “Captain America” control of everything, and it doesn’t go well. It looks like all the other heroes are down and “Hydra” is running things now… This doesn’t even feel like it’s going to be fun to make fun of…

Tomorrow Slowku talks with the secret group of heroes that has been shaping world events. The specific members he talks with are The Innovator, Headmaster Fresh, and Mr. Stretch. I’ve been circling around this idea of Special-Girl and Slowku hanging out for a while. I felt as Trump’s Czar of Superpowered Bitches she need someone to play off. Also she’d want to fill someone’s head with pro-Trump nonsense. Slowku seemed like a good candidate. Another thing I wanted address was the rumor the The Minstrel is Kellyanne Conway. Now that Kellyanne isn’t a big media pressence anymore it would be less of a big deal.

Alright, let’s talk some X-men again. Over the weekend I checked out “X-men: Blue” 1. This one has the time displaced younger versions of the original “X-men”. I can’t deal with them in general. It makes no sense that time isn’t destroyed by this. For some reason young “Jean Grey” is the leader even though “Cyclops” is right there. I haven’t followed these character much. Now “Angel” has fire wings and “Beast” does magic or something… Okay…

Then the big reveal at the end is… Wait for it… They work for “Magneto”… Except “Magneto” has been apart of the “X-men” for like 10 years now. So what’s the big deal… But wait there’s more!

There was buzz that this was where they were going to bring back the real “Wolverine”. Yeah not so much. It’s “Ultimate Wolverine’s” son. Who sucks. Welp done with the comic.

So what about that “Star Wars: The Final Jedi” teaser, huh? I must say it got me hyped. This is saying a lot cause I didn’t like “Rogue One”. To me “The Forces Awakens” worked but despite itself. Also “Han Solo” carried that movie. I’ve even questioned if “Star Wars” movies work without him at all. Guess we’ll see in December.

I started work on “The History Of Comics With Q-boy” 66. It’s going to a double page comic. After a whole comic without him Q-boy will appear too. Also I’m still doing preliminary stuff for “Criminal And Crimefigher Conversations” 200. As I said before this will have my version of “Sailor Moon”. As with most of my characters there’s a huge twist with her. Don’t wanna over-hype it but it’s pretty big.

With these comics I’m still figuring things out. I say this because I’m going to change what I’m doing with “The History Of Comics With Q-boy” again.

My new plan is to only update when I have completed panels or in some cases more than one done. Also I’m going to stop the updating on Monday. That seems to be day when most people aren’t checking out comics. I’m debating posting these comics on days “Criminal And Crimefighter Conversations” gets posted.

I’m still in the middle of the writing process for “The History Of Comics With Q-boy” 66. I’m also working on something planned for “Criminal And Crimefigher Conversations” 200. It will break format and involve the introduction of my version of “Sailor Moon”. I’ll get more into this later…

Now for this actual comic. I know I can’t be alone with “Better Call Saul” right? Like it’s okay, but “Breaking Bad” was SO great. Although “Gus” is suppose to be on this season so that might be interesting.

I posted the long awaited “The History Of Comics With Q-boy” 65 and not until too late noticed I screwed up. Distraction Lass gets her arm blown off in one panel. A couple panels later though there’s the same arm intact.

Enough with my screw ups. This comic was a weird one wasn’t it? This combination of characters seems to lead me down weird rabbit holes. Trying to psycho analyze someone as thick as Slowku leads to quick frustration. Especially when you’re also working with someone with as many issues as Special-Girl. Then you have Hazard Hands being there to be petty. It’s a nice gumbo of craziness to work with. Tomorrow these guys return to dive deeper down this rabbit hole. They get derailed though…

So you might be wondering what Special-Girl is freaking out about. This stuff about the a multi-verse the died got referred to before. This was way back in “Criminal And Crimfighter Conversations” 36. You can check that out here http://bit.ly/ccconver36 .

To re-explain I’ll paraphase what I wrote then. “This one has some references to “Crisis Of Infinite Earth””. This was “the big event of DC Comics that ended its multi-verse”. The main thing is in “Crisis” “The Flash” and “Supergirl” die in it. Also the “DC” heroes don’t remember “Crisis” happening. In my version, my verions of them (Quickie and Special-Girl) remember it happening. They are the only once who do though.
