I think the comic speaks for itself so I’m gonna talk some comics since it’s been a while… So “Secret Empire”… That was big stupid waste of time… Could they at least have semi-consistent art? In fact you know what not even going to talk about it anymore. (It sucked… Okay seriously done now) I’m going to try and be positive and list some above average comics I recommend…

“DC”

  • “All Star Batman” – One of the best books out now
  • “Teen Titans” – Solid book
  • The non-Bryan Hitch “Justice League” (not “Justice League Of America” with “Batman” and B-team people) – Decent
  • “Wonder Woman” – This is teetering on falling off the list, but it’s just good enough for now

“Marvel”

  • “Infamous Iron Man” – I think this is THE best book out now. I thought Dr. Doom trying to be good was bad idea. So glad I was wrong
  • “Champions” – Not big on any of the individual characters, but this is a pretty good book
  • “Astonishing X-men” – This just start so it might take a bad turn, but good art on story so far

So I was saying yesterday that because I parody “Marvel” and “DC” characters sometimes I combine similar characters. Here are some examples you might’ve seen if you’ve been following these comics:

  • “Aquaman” & “Namor” = The Underwater Monarch
  • “Atom” & “Ant-Man” = Insect Dude
  • And now Pussy Whip is both “Catwoman” and “Black Cat” (as Slick Kitty)

“DC” and “Marvel” often do their versions of each other’s characters as “commentary” on them. Sometimes these characters become radically different over time and the “copy” becomes more popular than the original.

Completely unrelated to the comic I had jury duty last week. I’m allowed to talk about the case, but I won’t. I’ll just say it was NOT pretty.

Because in these comics I mix versions of “Marvel” and “DC” characters I like to combine characters that are similar or serve the same purpose. I’ll get more into that tomorrow though.

My first thought was to have Belinda reject Frag Count immediately, but then I thought that was the obvious thing to do. Having her be open to the idea led to some interesting ideas, and I think it ended up being the better choice.

I’m going to be experimenting with the format of these comics again. I’m still trying to make these comics easier to read

I’m actually with Spiderous-Man on this one. I actually liked “Mega Man X” games better. Truthfully, I’ve never beaten any “Mega Man” game ever though. “Mega Man X” games seemed possible to beat though, but regular “Mega Man” games were dumb hard. I really liked how in the “X” games you as progressed you got armor. Also the secret “Street Fighter” moves were cool. My favorite “Mega Man” game is the original “Mega Man X”.

What “Mega Man” games did you like, and what did you like about them?

I finished watching “The Defenders” on Sunday night and I gotta say it was pretty damn good. I’d give it an A-. Some parts were a little slow and some parts were a little iffy, but overall it was just too much fun to judge too harshly. I still see people hating on “Iron Fist”. Really, he’s not that bad. He’s the character that was established in his show which is impulsive and hot headed. Is he the weak link of the group? Sure, but him and his show are A LOT better than A LOT of shows and characters people give a pass for.

It’s funny because I wrote this comic before watching the last episode and referenced the robot arm “Misty Knight” has in the comics. At this point I didn’t see that things were headed toward “Misty” getting a robot arm and my version of her, Belinda, was oringally going to boycott the network with her group.

The next big event happening with “Marvel” is “Generations” and part of that is a series called “Marvel Legacy”. Part of that is the introduction of “Avengers 100,000,000 BC”. Confused yet? To blatantly steal a line from “Watchmen” “don’t be alarmed that only indicates you are still sane”.

If you haven’t seen the team it features Odin, “Agamotto” (the guy whose eye “Dr. Strange” wears), and a “Hulk”-looking guy whose a“Star Brand” (“Star Brand” is a “New Universe” character “Marvel” has been trying to make happen for the last few years).

Also there are version of “Phoenix”, “Iron Fist”, “Ghost Rider” (who rides a flaming Mastadon!!!), and “Black Panther”.

My kneejerk reaction is “this is stupid and makes no sense for a whole host of reason”, BUT the art looks good. So even though I’m going to make fun of this all week in these comics I’ll actually try to give it a fair chance when it comes out. Fingers crossed folks…

Getting “Meta” With “Batman”

One thing I get to in this comic is the idea that “Batman” is a “metahuman”. “Metahuman” for those of you not up on “DCComics” lingo is “people with powers”. It has something to do with “Hawkman” metal or something, but it doesn’t matter. What is with “DC” and undermining the entire point of their characters? If “Batman” has powers he’s not “Batman”. If he kinda sorta has powers then there’s no point in saying he does. If “Batman” murders people like in “BVS” he’s not “Batman”. While we’re at it:

  • If “Superman” is a guy who constantly scowls he’s not “Superman”
  • If “Barry Allen” is some young isolated weirdo he’s not “Barry Allen”
  • If “Aquaman”… Actually who cares. Though “hook hand” “Aquaman” kicked ass

Wonder Woman : Now They’re Just Getting Greedy

I’ve harped on “Wonder Woman” a lot, but the level to which it is overrated keeps ramping up. It has now gone from “ridiculous” to “fanatical”. It’s so bad that I thought maybe I was too harsh on it so I got a cammed version so I could watch it again… Nope it’s a C+ movie. At best. I wouldn’t give ya shit if you gave it a B, but it’s a C movie. I still need to re-watch “Man Of Steel” to see if it’s even the best “DCEU” movie. I went into pretty good detail about the flaws so I won’t bore you with that again. I’m not saying it’s completely without merit or it’s terrible. It has “heart”. Which is pretty much the film equivalent of “she’s got a nice personality”.

I bring all this up because supposedly now there’s a campaign for “Wonder Woman” to get an “Oscar”.

This is just greedy. You skated by on a mediocre movie. Don’t be like Trump. Take your “technical” win with some humility. Learn from the mistakes and come back with a movie that actually deserves the praise. Knowing how things work if it does get nominated it will probably get an “Oscar” for something. If this happens they should give it to the people who made “Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.2”. A movie that is better written, has more and better action, is funnier, and actually has more “heart” in it’s own way. So far it is BY FAR the best superhero movie this year.

Oh and as far as the comic, just in case it wasn’t clear Salty Sandy is basically “Petter Potts”. Tomorrow Admiral A, Admiral Star, The Good Knight, and Slowku discuss a contest and an induction. Hope you enjoy and see ya then!

Ya know what I really liked? I like when “The Punisher” was off by himself in an R-rated comic that was part of “Marvel’s” “Max line” of comics. “The Punisher” could be in violent messed-up stories and wouldn’t be involved in some terrible crossover. Sadly, those days are gone… They went and brought him back in the normal “Marvel Universe”. Now with this “Secret Invasion” crossover they got going on he’s part of “Hydra”. Ugh!

There’s a rationale for it, and I guess it kinda makes sense but still… Ugh! He shouldn’t be in this the first place. He should be murdering mobsters by the truckload. That would be bad enough, but lately “Marvel” and “DCComics” have been playing “bad idea chicken”. As far as comics “Marvel’s” been winning this race to the bottom for a while now. “Marvel” is going to up the ante by making “The Punisher” the new “War Machine”. Yep kill off one of the few Black characters that’s isn’t just a poor man’s version of a White hero and replace him with a White guy who shouldn’t even be involved in the first place. What even needs to be said at this point?
