Now we meet Spiderous-Man, Dr. Do, and The Smasher.  Spiderous-Man and Dr. Do actually first appeared way back in Q-boy #1 (Spiderous-Man on page 15 and Dr. Do on page 19).  This is the first time seeing The Smasher but we met his female counterpart The Fem-Smasher back in Q-boy #2 on page 3.  This comics is based on combining the covers of Superman And Spider-man and Batman VS The Incredible Hulk as seen below…

The thing at the ending with Jerry talking about beating the Smasher by giving him a Coke was a subtle jab at the finale to Mad Men… I really hated that finale… A lot…. Anyways I wrote this one shortly after watching that.  That all I got for this one.  Next time we meet two super-teams and a big battle royale results.  Hope you all had a good Independence Day, and as always hope you enjoy and see ya next time.

So Eddy and Jerry are basically Stan Lee and Jack Kirby who basically created every character anyone cares about in the Marvel Universe.  I really like the idea of giving them this really contentious relationship.  This comic is based on the cover of Fantastic Four #1 which pretty much launched the Marvel Universe as seen below.

Fantastic Four #1 cover

So what’s Q-ball saying you might ask?  Well going by Google Translate he’s saying: “As a Mexican-American I am conflicted on illegal immigration. I am saddened by my people fleeing poverty and violence that are the side effects of US policies. Also many industries require illegal immigration because they do jobs no one else will do. I am also personally outraged by xenophobia and racism that is injected into the subject. On the other hand I understand the need for a secure border and improvements in the immigration process for legal immigrants like myself. Oh, yes, and I go by the name Q-ball and now is the time for Bruising!!!”

We’ll be seeing Eddy and Jerry for a while as we cover their contributions to Q-boy’s lore.  Anyways hope you enjoy, have a good Father’s Day, and see ya next time!

So what’s this one all about you might ask.  Well this one is referencing a guy named Bill Finger who co-created Batman, and may have done a lot of the heavy lifting in that but isn’t given as well known as he should be and wasn’t given much of the credit.  The big panel at the end is based on the cover of a comic where Superman and Shazam fought as shown below…

Another comic that recently did a homage to this cover is The Hero Business. Click the link check it out.  We’ll definitely be seeing more of Kill-Man (and Q-girl getting drunk) over time.  Next time we’ll find out who “The Emperor” and “The Guy” are, and we’ll sorta meet a new character… Oh and a certain monster that appeared once before returns.  Seriously though should it be “Kill-man” and “The Kill-man”?  Anyways hope you enjoy and see ya next time.

Here we have the grand meeting of the 3 Q-ladies, and Freedom Female to boot!  For this one I made some attempts at drawing in Adobe Illustrator, but once again it just wasn’t a good fit for me so I’m back to Adobe Flash.  We also see here Q-girl getting drunk which we will continually see as one of her defining character traits.  Wait is “getting a drunk” or ever being an alchoholic a character trait?  Anyways you can see this goes way back  of the first appearance of “modern Q-girl” way back on page 21 of Q-boy #2.  This cover below show what this comic was based on…

JLA_157_95Next time we’ll see two of our Q-ladies and we’ll be introduced Q-boy’s greatest rival Kill-man!  From there Q-boy with the help of some new creators really hits the Silver Age of comics running!  Should be a wild ride! You gotta wonder though what’s Q-girl’s drink of choice.  Hope you enjoy and see ya next time!

So there’s a lot going on with this one… Let’s start with some Wonder Woman history as that is who Freedom Female is based on.  Wonder Woman was created by William Moulton Marston who also happened to invent the lie detector.  He was way into the idea that women should run the world and something about “loving bondage”.  He also had a poly relationship with 2 women, one of which he married, and they all lived together. For the hell of it I made the 2 women black and hispanic to add some diversity.  Sandra Christie I based very loosely on Jackie Ormes who was the first black woman to create a syndicated comic strip.  The character The Red Q Lady is a combination of Jackie’s character Torchy Brown and the Woman In Red who was a female crimefighter in the very early days of comics.  Both characters are explained more on this article on the site ComicBookGrrrl.com.  The first panel is based on the first panel of the Woman In Red comic below…

womaninredThe whole “Murderess Of Monsters”/Vampire stuff with the Red Q Lady…. I’ll keep that under the hat for now…Oh yeah! I didn’t have room to translate what Rosalina is saying in the last panel.  She’s basically saying “I’d kill you if I wasn’t Catholic you old whore” and “those thieves can rot in hell”.  Do you think The Red Q Lady every improved her stake throwing?  Anyways that’s it for now, next time we meet a “man with a master plan, his name is Sam, and I think you better recognized”.

And so with her brown hair and her gold and green costume, Freedom Female comes to rep for the ladies hard!  If this looks somewhat familiar it should because as Freedom Female is obviously based on Wonder Woman, this comic is based on the cover of the comic Wonder Woman first appeared in Sensation Comics #1.  As shown below…

ww1stcover

Next time we go into Freedom Female’s creation and reveal the second of our 3 Q-ladies.  Its a story that involves a pretty non-traditional relationship, and the usual over-the-top shenanigans you’ve come to expect from these comics.   If you know your Wonder Woman history you might be able to guess some of it, but I’m open to guesses… Hope you enjoy and see ya next time!
