I’ll get more into “Perfect” Spiderous-Man later. In short, he’s this world’s “Miles Morales/ Ultimate Spider-Man”. I’ve hinted about him for a while, but finally decided what I wanted to do with him. He’s the nightmare version of what happens when you give a kid a bunch of money…

Is Fine With Me

Let’s start with the obvious questions. Is it the best “Spider-Man” movie? Yeah, but that’s not saying much. Is it better than “Wonder Woman”? Well yeah, but “Wonder Woman” wasn’t very good. It’s a mid-tier “Marvel” movie. A solid B. A straight 80% B. I was never bored by it. I’d say overall my feeling was “this is fine”. Some have a problem with it, but this is more of an “Iron Man Jr.” movie than a “Spider-Man”, but that’s fine with me. There are some problems but I’ll get into those tomorrow.

Be skeptical of anyone telling you they’re going to lower your taxes. An asshole might ask something like “why do you like taxes”? Nobody likes taxes, but everybody (including the assholes against taxes) like the services they help to fund. When you lower taxes often you’re going to either loses needed services or someone’s going to try to do something “the cheap way”. Ask the people in Flint how the “the cheap way” works out.

Some might ask why I keep using the word “asshole”. I use it because I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt. I’m assuming they know all this. Therefore they’re just appealing to people’s worst instincts for money and or power. Also they’re doing this knowing the damage it will cause in people’s lives. That right there makes them an asshole by any definition!

I said a lot of what I had to say about Grover Norquist’s “guitar tweet” yesterday. Also as I write this it is actually Independence Day so I’ll keep this short. You almost always pay more in the long run when you cut taxes. This is especially true if the word “deregulation” is being thrown around. You not only pay more in actual money but in crime, health, and service.

How What Are Born?!

This whole week of comics is inspired by this tweet last week from Grover Norquist. If you don’t know who this is he the main “anti-tax” guy. Twitter quickly took to tearing this guy apart by schooling him on how taxes work. They showed him how sales taxes help to pay every part of getting the guitar. From road maintenance to police protection, to (if there’s still a music program) the class that would teach his kid to play the guitar.

Let’s go with this story though. Let’s say the sales tax in this story is 10%. I’m pretty sure the highest sales tax in any state is around 7% but let’s go with this to keep the math easy. The tax would be $3.50. Some parents would give the kid the extra money. Some would use this as a valuable lesson on how everything costs more than it seems. Grover here is an asshole and goes to “Twitter” to whine about it.

This isn’t what this argument is really about though. It’s really about how society works. Do we pay all pay a little extra to make society better or believe it’s “everyone for themselves”? Let’s adjust this story now… Let’s say the guitar now costs (an UNTHINKABLE) $50. In this world though, that extra money ensures that a poor kid whose parents have no insurance can get life-saving surgery. I figure even the stingiest parent gives their kid at least $15 a week for an allowance. So would you wait one week to save the kids life?

Some people would start with the excuses. “The parents don’t work hard enough”. “They should’ve worked harder in school”. The same school they don’t want to fund with taxes. The excuses are where it starts. That’s how assholes are born… Tomorrow these guys continue on. Hope you enjoy and see ya then!

“All Eyez On Me” : Back Reincarnated

I know I’m repeating myself, but I have say “All Eyez On Me” is a pretty good movie. It’s imperfect and not a “polished” as “Straight Outta Compton”, but it’s still pretty good. I’ve already covered the main legitimate complaint of critics which it’s a bit “jumpy”. Generally, they are WAY too harsh on this movie for some reason.

I’ll move on to the “civilian” complaints. Most of the complaints I’ve seen are nitpicky at best. Most of this is 2pac “Stans” trying to prove how much they know. Half the time they’re either wrong or are guessing about things. None of that is important because YES the movie uses creative license with some events. Here’s some random complaints I’ve seen:

  • Jada Smith’s complaints- There’s a scene where 2pac read her a poem that didn’t actually happen. Also there a scene where her character confronts 2pac backstage at a concert. Okay this is here to show 2pac’s poems without having to go into a long backstory about them. With the confrontation it’s to show she disapproved some some things Pac was doing. Which she did. All this is is saving time by condensing. There’s nothing “hurtful” like she claimed
  • Anachronisms- People have said some uses an “Iphone 7” and “NBA2k” game was in it. I didn’t notice either of these. If true it’s a genuine gripe. Not movie ruining but a couple real flaws
  • So I started watching one “Youtube” review about the movie and it starts with them going on and on about how 2pac worked in pizza shop. I stopped the video soon after that. That’s how trivial some of the complaints are. Sad part is the movie DOES acknowledge it.
  • “Hail Mary” performance- There’s a concert scene where the song is performed. The song wasn’t released until after 2pac and wasn’t performed at this specific concert. It was a way to include a performance of a fan-favorite song. Dumb complaint.
  • “Death Row East” – There’s conflicting reports about Pac wanting to leave “Death Row”. In some of his last interviews Pac talks about “Death Row East” and seem to want to work with “Death Row” for the foreseeable future. In the movie Suge offers to be partners with Pac and tells him he can run “Death Row East”. People say the “Pac running “Death Row East” thing isn’t true. Story-wise it simplifies the matter and gives Pac a concrete reason for staying with “Death Row”. Right or wrong it’s a choice that works to me
  • “Final Car Ride With Suge” – In the car ride before the 2nd shooting Pac plays some new (as in present day) song by his group “The Outlawz”. Supposedly, they were actually bumping “Hail Mary” at this time. The current “Outlawz” song is kinda shameless, but whatever those guys deserve some shine. Also when “2pac” is shot gospel music plays. I’m up and down on that choice, but again not a movie ruining thing.Tommorow, Special-Girl and Freedom Female return with Spiderous-Man and Admiral Fire. In the end if you want accurate accounts of 2pac’s life there’s MANY movies people’s personal accounts of him. And MANY interviews with his own word. I think people wanted a movie as great as him. It’s not possible. Just the amount of material alone is too much for a single film. It’s a solid B movie, and if you haven’t seen it I recommend it.

If you follow these comics or my posts on social media you should get the sense I love both comics and rap. Also anime, genre-shows and other elements of “nerd culture” as well. Mixing all these elements make the strange (but tasty?) gumbo that are these comics. One thing I’m about is bridging any gaps between “nerd culture” and “hiphop culture”. They are similar and cross into each other in many unexpected ways. Make no mistake, GOOD rappers are nerds.

They are people obsessed with pop culture and vocabulary; and they put real research into what they rap about. Also comic writers and artists much like rappers are often completely screwed by the companies they work for. That’s a whole other topic for another day though.

“Sailor Moon” & “Goku” : Mutual Over-eaters

Pretty much this whole comic is about how “Sailor Moon” eats a lot.

It interesting because there’s an episode early on where she gains half a pound or something. “Sailor Moon” then tries starving herself and over-exercising to lose the weight. In the “DiC” dub they make a point to be like “you’re being ridiculous”. In the more accurate “Viz” dub people are almost like “yeah you’re gonna be a fat ass”. Overall, it seems in the “Viz” dub people are meaner to “Sailor Moon”. I actually think this make her more likeable and the show funnier overall.

Seeing as “Goku” is also known for eating I thought it was time for the titans of anime to meet. Since “Wonder Woman” is known to loves ice cream I figured an ice cream party would be the place.

“All Eyez On Me” A 2pac Movie Crucified Much Like The Cover Of His Last Official Album

I’m as big a 2pac fan as any. So I went to see the biopic about him “All Eyez On Me” on Saturday. To say the least, this movie is getting A LOT of hate… I don’t get it. It’s pretty good. I’d give it a B. As a whole it is VERY accurate. There are tiny liberties taken for story reasons, but who doesn’t expect that?

Jada Smith is whining about some tiny things they changed in the movie. This is weird cuz’ her character has a kinda big part and she portrayed very well.

The biggest complaint you can give the movie is that there’s too much to cover. You could make entires series about several parts of his life. More stuff happens in the last 9 months of 2pac’s life than pretty much anyone. Bottom line, the movie gets SO much SO right.

  • Almost every major thing that happened to Pac gets covered
  • A lot of famous thing you saw him wear is in the movie

Final Thoughts On The “Wonder Woman” Movie

Alright, it’s time to wrap this up. I didn’t talk much about the good parts of the movie so let’s get to that. Even though the movie overrated by EPIC proportions it isn’t terrible. Here’s the good stuff.

  • Gal Gadot – She is, of course, beautiful and also very charming. She has a smile that make you want to smile too
  • Chris Pine – He does a good job
  • “Etta Candy” – She’s pretty funny. The movie needed more of her
  • The lasso – Looked awesome when used
  • The action – There’s way too little, but most of it is pretty well done

Now here’s some bad things I didn’t get into before

  • Poor man’s “Howling Commandos” – This movie didn’t need these guys. They brought nothing to the table
  • The humor – Though better than some of the other “DCEU” movies still weak. Like the action ALL the funniest stuff are in the trailers. In fact they’re funnier in the trailers
  • Setting the movie in WWI – Bad decision. There’s a reasoning behind it in the movie, but still a bad decision. There has always been a connection between “Wonder Woman” and “WWII”. It’s a less interesting war. Also the technology doesn’t allow for “Wonder Woman” to have any challenge. At least until she fights Ares.
  • The framing device – All this does is remind you of “Batman V Superman” which was horrible. Wasted time here. Jump into the movie and let’s go. Which leads to…
  • Young Diana – All this does is give exposition and attempt to make you care about a character that dies. The exposition could’ve gotten laid out in a better way. Also you still don’t care about the character that dies when they do. Again wasted time.
  • Wasted time in general – A lot scenes are there to set up a single joke or something. The joke is never good enough for the wasted time. This is a general problem with the “DCEU”. The plot stalls for scenes that waste time. This how you get long boring movies that STILL don’t have enough action.

I’ve got a bit so say about the “Wonder Woman” movie but here’s the tl;dr version. It’s a C+ movie that is SUPER overrated…

Alright, let’s get to it…

Wonder Woman: Overrated Or Savagely Overrated?

America, we need to have a talk. We have a problem… That problem is “tipping the scale” to make two sides even. That’s part of how we got Trump. We need to stop it now! When it comes to movies “Marvel” and “DC Comics” aren’t even. “Marvel” is better in every conceivable way. Besides the “Thor” movies every “Marvel” movie is better than every “DC” movie. This includes “Wonder Woman”. Currently “Wonder Woman” has 93% on “Rotten Tomatoes”…. To say the least, it is not an A- movie. If “Wonder Woman” is an A- movie then you’d need two newer higher letter grades for “Marvel” movies.

There are reviews that compare it to “The Dark Knight”. This is a level of insanity that is ludicrous. “Wonder Woman” has the same major problems of “DC’s” last few movies. These are:

  • Most of it is boring
  • It’s colorless and gray besides the early first section
  • The end fight kinda sucks

‘Wonder Woman” is one of those movies where everything that was good about it was in the trailers. The action is sparse. There is some action but these parts are minutes. By the time you think “that was cool” it’s over. Then you’re back to waiting for the movie to get to the point. When it finally does it get kinda interesting. Then you get to the final fight that isn’t impressive. Sorry, the bar got raised passed this. That’s enough for today I’ll talk some more about it throughout the week.

Oh Yeah Today’s Comic 

So I took a little risk with the crazy font used to Special-Girl’s drunk talk. It’s one of the the many fonts I found while looking for new ones for this comic. It can be hard to read, but to me it captures what a drunk person talking would “look” like. Tomorrow Badassia gets swapped out for Spiderous-Man and more drunken ranting ensues.
