Do you think “Martain Manhunter” and or “Green Lantern”should be in the “Justice League” movie. Why or why not?

As implied by this comic to me it isn’t really the “Justice League” without them.

Last week focused on a story about the “Prehistoric Revenge Squad”. This was poking fun at the “Avengers 1,000,000 BC” team that suppose to part of “Marvel Legacy”. “DCComics” had a storyline about a future version of the “Justice League” from the 853rd century called “DC One Million”. This we these comics will be making fun of that along with the usual amount of whacked out distractions you’ve come to expect.

Who do you think the team in “Avengers 1,000,000 BC” will be fighting?

I’ve seen some people suggest the “Celestials”. That’s would make sense I guess. That doesn’t change the fact that “Phoenix” and “Odin” should be able to take care of pretty much anything. MAYBE I could see some point in “Agamotto”, “Star Brand”, and “Ghost Rider”, but “Iron Fist” and “Black Panther”?! What are they gonna do? Provide drinks?

Phoenix: Stop Rising And Stay Down

I’ve been over how I feel about “Phoenix” a few times, but here’s the tl;dr version

  • The best interpretation of “Phoenix” is that it was “Jean Grey’s” actual power not some entity that took her place or inhabits her
  • Making it an entity to bring “Jean Grey” back was an okay way to have their cake and eat it too even though it undercuts the impact of the original story
  • Every appearance since then has made the whole thing stupider make less sense
  • Also on an barely related note get rid of the “young past X-men” (the original X-men were brought to the future and it’s dumb) and say there from an alternate reality. Also either bring back the real adult “Jean Grey” or leave her permanently dead.

There’s more to say about “Phoenix” and the rest of “Avengers 1,000,000,000 BC” , but I’ll save that for tomorrow. Speaking of which, tomorrow these guys talk even more about the Prehistoric Revenge Squad. Hope you enjoy and see ya then!

The next big event happening with “Marvel” is “Generations” and part of that is a series called “Marvel Legacy”. Part of that is the introduction of “Avengers 100,000,000 BC”. Confused yet? To blatantly steal a line from “Watchmen” “don’t be alarmed that only indicates you are still sane”.

If you haven’t seen the team it features Odin, “Agamotto” (the guy whose eye “Dr. Strange” wears), and a “Hulk”-looking guy whose a“Star Brand” (“Star Brand” is a “New Universe” character “Marvel” has been trying to make happen for the last few years).

Also there are version of “Phoenix”, “Iron Fist”, “Ghost Rider” (who rides a flaming Mastadon!!!), and “Black Panther”.

My kneejerk reaction is “this is stupid and makes no sense for a whole host of reason”, BUT the art looks good. So even though I’m going to make fun of this all week in these comics I’ll actually try to give it a fair chance when it comes out. Fingers crossed folks…

Wonder Woman : Now They’re Just Getting Greedy

I’ve harped on “Wonder Woman” a lot, but the level to which it is overrated keeps ramping up. It has now gone from “ridiculous” to “fanatical”. It’s so bad that I thought maybe I was too harsh on it so I got a cammed version so I could watch it again… Nope it’s a C+ movie. At best. I wouldn’t give ya shit if you gave it a B, but it’s a C movie. I still need to re-watch “Man Of Steel” to see if it’s even the best “DCEU” movie. I went into pretty good detail about the flaws so I won’t bore you with that again. I’m not saying it’s completely without merit or it’s terrible. It has “heart”. Which is pretty much the film equivalent of “she’s got a nice personality”.

I bring all this up because supposedly now there’s a campaign for “Wonder Woman” to get an “Oscar”.

This is just greedy. You skated by on a mediocre movie. Don’t be like Trump. Take your “technical” win with some humility. Learn from the mistakes and come back with a movie that actually deserves the praise. Knowing how things work if it does get nominated it will probably get an “Oscar” for something. If this happens they should give it to the people who made “Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.2”. A movie that is better written, has more and better action, is funnier, and actually has more “heart” in it’s own way. So far it is BY FAR the best superhero movie this year.

Oh and as far as the comic, just in case it wasn’t clear Salty Sandy is basically “Petter Potts”. Tomorrow Admiral A, Admiral Star, The Good Knight, and Slowku discuss a contest and an induction. Hope you enjoy and see ya then!

Ya know what I really liked? I like when “The Punisher” was off by himself in an R-rated comic that was part of “Marvel’s” “Max line” of comics. “The Punisher” could be in violent messed-up stories and wouldn’t be involved in some terrible crossover. Sadly, those days are gone… They went and brought him back in the normal “Marvel Universe”. Now with this “Secret Invasion” crossover they got going on he’s part of “Hydra”. Ugh!

There’s a rationale for it, and I guess it kinda makes sense but still… Ugh! He shouldn’t be in this the first place. He should be murdering mobsters by the truckload. That would be bad enough, but lately “Marvel” and “DCComics” have been playing “bad idea chicken”. As far as comics “Marvel’s” been winning this race to the bottom for a while now. “Marvel” is going to up the ante by making “The Punisher” the new “War Machine”. Yep kill off one of the few Black characters that’s isn’t just a poor man’s version of a White hero and replace him with a White guy who shouldn’t even be involved in the first place. What even needs to be said at this point?

One thing I didn’t mention that came out during “San Diego Comic” was the teaser for “Krypton”. Why is this happening? There’s something fundamental that people just aren’t getting. Story start at a certain point because that’s the part where it gets interesting. I got into this before with “Star Wars”. Does anyone really care what happened on “Krypton”? If they do, do they care enough to watch a whole series about it. Prequels are almost universally a bad idea. I can’t think of one good one.

Flashback stories can work if they help to inform what’s going on currently. Straight up prequels though? Nah! Plus it’s on “Syfy” channel and I can’t even remember the last time a good show was on there.

“San Diego Comic-Con” A View Of The Future One Phone Cam Video At A Time

So “San Diego Comic-Con” was this weekend meaning EVERY movie trailer, teaser, and announcement was released. Some highlights:

  • “Avengers: Infinity War” – Only saw phone cam footage on IG, but I did see the whole thing… Good lord does this look awesome. I concerned about how all these characters are going to fit into one movie though
  • New “Justice League” trailer – Looking more and more like it’ll be okay… The whole pretending “Superman” isn’t in it thing is getting really old. Also I must repeat yet again “The Flash” looks stupid. Whedon you still got time make that his “joke costume” and cgi a real suit on him. Oh and if that isn’t “Superman” that “Alfred” is talking to at the end it’s something stupid
  • “Flash Point” is the title of “The Flash” movie- Sigh! Seriously “DC” move on from this already? This story had been:
    • A bad comic
    • An okay animated DVD
    • A show ruiner for “The Flash” TV show
    • Stop already!
  • New “The Gifted” trailer- Wasn’t impressed before, but now I see this might end up being a good show.
  • New “Thor: Ragnarok” trailer – Looking better and better. I think we finally got ourselves a good “Thor” movie. Has “Marvel” fixed it’s one weakness in movies? We’ll see…
  • Michelle Pfieffer as “OG Wasp”/ Laurence Fishbourne as “Golaith” in “Antman And The Wasp” – Seems cool. Nice that “Batman” and “Catwoman” are part of “Marvel now

I have a terrible secret I must confess. I was out of work for a while and I picked up a terrible habit… I watch “TMZ Live”. I don’t watch regular “TMZ” cuz’ I can’t stomach it. The announcer guy and his corny jokes alone makes it unwatchable. If you’ve never seen “TMZ” it’s a celebrity gossip show. They sent their vulture-like camera people to bother celebrities and they “report” on things. By “report” I means “Google” things and make wild guess about what going on. Then idiots call in and repeat whatever they said and desperately try to get attention. The main guy Harvey Levin is a wishy-washy halfway Trump supporter. He constantly tries to pretend he’s not VERY rich from “TMZ”. I guess so all the barely paid staff there don’t start asking for money. He also mentions about 800 times an episode that he used to be a lawyer. I guess this is him reflecting on a time when he had dignity.

I could go on and on, but I’m getting away from the point. On Thursdays “TMZ Live” does something special. They have this guy Tim do a segment called “Tim’s Rejects”. You know how you can go ANYWHERE on the internet and find really cool and interesting videos? Well Tim has the special talent of somehow missing all the good stuff and finding 3 crappy videos. He also sets them up very poorly. Usually he asks “have you ever [insert whatever’s in the video]”. The segment usually ends with Harvey berating the guy for how crappy the videos are. All of this is to say that this comic say Spiderous-Man is pretty much that guy, Tim.

Somehow I forgot to mention on of the biggest problems with “Spider-Man: Homecoming”. Spoilers if you haven’t seen it yet

Near the end “Iron Man” says he’s going to let “Spider-Man” join “The Avengers”. “Spider-Man” then declines because he’s not ready. Then he asks if this is a test. Soon it’s revealed it wasn’t a test and “Iron Man” was actually going to put him on the team. There was a press conference set up and everything. To me this was a big mistake. “Spider-Man” hadn’t earned it. He broke the rules, hacked his suit, and he’s a kid. This also undercuts the maturity he shows be declining. In fact, “Spider-Man” should have had to make his own suit. One not nearly as good as the “Iron Man” one, but better than his original costume.
