Brief Thoughts On The “Black Panther” Trailer

The “Black Panther” teaser trailer came out over this weekend. I didn’t see enough to make any real judgment about the movie yet. I’m little concerned about the obvious CGI of “Black Panther” in some parts. C’mon guys this ain’t “Spider-Man” 1. Got a feeling this is the movie where “Marvel” might slip up. I hope not, but no roll lasts forever…
 

Back To “Sailor Moon” Stuff

 
After a week’s break the “Sailor Moon” characters “The Celestial Admirals” return. Last week I finished both the “DiC” and “Viz” dubs of season 2 of “Sailor Moon” or “Sailor Moon R”… There’s a lot to get to and I’ll go more into them later. Here’s a tl;dr read list of things about it though:
  • I effin’ HATE Rini/Chibiusa. She’s up there with “Xander” from “Buffy”. That’s a whole rant in and of itself
  • Wait! “Sailor Moon” and “Tuxedo Mask” end up ruling the world?! Why is nobody saying anything about this?!
  • The fist arc with the brother and sister… That was filler right?! Cuz’ man was some of that lazy
  • Way to overcomplicate the plot with Steven Bannon and the “Death Phantom”
  • There’s a sailor scout that guards time?! What are the implications of this?! What is the nature and importance of their powers?
  • “Sailor Moon” and “Tuxedo Mask” RULE THE WORLD! What the hell?!
I also started on the “Cloverway” dub of season 3 or “Sailor Moon S”. What happened to “Sailor Moon’s” voice.?! It sounds like they took the original voice actress, and fired her. Then hired her grandmother, and punched in the throat before every take.

Final Thoughts On The “Wonder Woman” Movie

Alright, it’s time to wrap this up. I didn’t talk much about the good parts of the movie so let’s get to that. Even though the movie overrated by EPIC proportions it isn’t terrible. Here’s the good stuff.

  • Gal Gadot – She is, of course, beautiful and also very charming. She has a smile that make you want to smile too
  • Chris Pine – He does a good job
  • “Etta Candy” – She’s pretty funny. The movie needed more of her
  • The lasso – Looked awesome when used
  • The action – There’s way too little, but most of it is pretty well done

Now here’s some bad things I didn’t get into before

  • Poor man’s “Howling Commandos” – This movie didn’t need these guys. They brought nothing to the table
  • The humor – Though better than some of the other “DCEU” movies still weak. Like the action ALL the funniest stuff are in the trailers. In fact they’re funnier in the trailers
  • Setting the movie in WWI – Bad decision. There’s a reasoning behind it in the movie, but still a bad decision. There has always been a connection between “Wonder Woman” and “WWII”. It’s a less interesting war. Also the technology doesn’t allow for “Wonder Woman” to have any challenge. At least until she fights Ares.
  • The framing device – All this does is remind you of “Batman V Superman” which was horrible. Wasted time here. Jump into the movie and let’s go. Which leads to…
  • Young Diana – All this does is give exposition and attempt to make you care about a character that dies. The exposition could’ve gotten laid out in a better way. Also you still don’t care about the character that dies when they do. Again wasted time.
  • Wasted time in general – A lot scenes are there to set up a single joke or something. The joke is never good enough for the wasted time. This is a general problem with the “DCEU”. The plot stalls for scenes that waste time. This how you get long boring movies that STILL don’t have enough action.

Wonder Woman: The Origin Of Clay Girl

“Wonder Woman” is a hard nut to crack. She’s a strange character with a strange origin. Her origin is under neverending revision. In the original version she got created from clay. This makes her not even a person. Then you combine that the fact she got raised on an all-women island. This is make for the story of the ultimate outsider. The outsider amongst outsiders. This is a story “Wonder Woman” doesn’t tell though. More recently, she it got changed to her being Zues’ daughter. Now she’s one of many demi-gods. In both version she didn’t earn her powers and she’s not special. None of this even gets into all the weird bondage stuff in her early days.

Then there’s her villains. I’ve pointed it out a few times in these comics but she only has two most people know. They’re “Cheetah” and “Giganta”. Neither of which seem to be a true match for “Wonder Woman”. The fact that neither of them is even hinted at in the movie was a mistake.

“Wonder Woman” still has no true arch-enemy. She still doesn’t have her “Joker” or “Lex Luthor” even after all these years. So in slight defense of the movie they had a hard job.

Tomorow Spiderous-Man gets replaced by Q-boy. He’s sent in to try and salvage this drunken madness. Hope you enjoy and see ya then!

I’ve got a bit so say about the “Wonder Woman” movie but here’s the tl;dr version. It’s a C+ movie that is SUPER overrated…

Alright, let’s get to it…

Wonder Woman: Overrated Or Savagely Overrated?

America, we need to have a talk. We have a problem… That problem is “tipping the scale” to make two sides even. That’s part of how we got Trump. We need to stop it now! When it comes to movies “Marvel” and “DC Comics” aren’t even. “Marvel” is better in every conceivable way. Besides the “Thor” movies every “Marvel” movie is better than every “DC” movie. This includes “Wonder Woman”. Currently “Wonder Woman” has 93% on “Rotten Tomatoes”…. To say the least, it is not an A- movie. If “Wonder Woman” is an A- movie then you’d need two newer higher letter grades for “Marvel” movies.

There are reviews that compare it to “The Dark Knight”. This is a level of insanity that is ludicrous. “Wonder Woman” has the same major problems of “DC’s” last few movies. These are:

  • Most of it is boring
  • It’s colorless and gray besides the early first section
  • The end fight kinda sucks

‘Wonder Woman” is one of those movies where everything that was good about it was in the trailers. The action is sparse. There is some action but these parts are minutes. By the time you think “that was cool” it’s over. Then you’re back to waiting for the movie to get to the point. When it finally does it get kinda interesting. Then you get to the final fight that isn’t impressive. Sorry, the bar got raised passed this. That’s enough for today I’ll talk some more about it throughout the week.

Oh Yeah Today’s Comic 

So I took a little risk with the crazy font used to Special-Girl’s drunk talk. It’s one of the the many fonts I found while looking for new ones for this comic. It can be hard to read, but to me it captures what a drunk person talking would “look” like. Tomorrow Badassia gets swapped out for Spiderous-Man and more drunken ranting ensues. Wonder Woman : Can The Movie Live Up To The Hype?

So Wonder Woman is coming out on Friday. I’ll more than likely see it this weekend. So far the reviews are VERY good. As I write this is has a 97% on “Rotten Tomatoes”. My prediction is it will be pretty good, but not as good as people are saying. It seems like the other “DCEU” movies have made expectation so low it’s getting overrated. I hope I’m wrong though.

On to the comic. So I made “Admiral Lightning” from the same island as “Freedom Female”. “Admiral Lightning” is my version of “Sailor Jupiter”. This explains why she’s so tall and strong. Also when I thought about Freedom Female’s origin I wanted the idea that other girls got to leave the island. The fact she wasn’t allowed to is part of why she does leave. There is a reason why she wasn’t, but I’m saying that for when I tell her origin.

So yesterday I talked about having to do a lot of editing for the comic. This one was a LOT more. In fact as I write this I’m not even done yet.

“Wristcutters: A Love Story” is real a movie about a chick who commits suicide. She then ends up in a place that’s a little worse than here. I don’t remember much else about it. In real life I did get this movie while “picking the corspe” of a “Blockbuster” video that was closing. An old co-worker, Reagan Myers coined the term… Well as far as I know he did…

Tomorrow we switch gears as Admiral Lightning, Freedom Female, and Badassia are here. They talk about Freedom Female’s home the Isle Of Manless Maidens and Amish people. Also “Freedom Female: The Original World Protector” is comes out this weekend so that comes up.

This is yet another comic where I had to do a lot of editing. The first thing Spiderous-Man says is completely different from what I first wrote. In the middle of doing the word balloons for this comic I realized I needed to change what he said. J-Pop mentions “Talentless Americans Trying Get A Crappy Vegas Show”. If the title didn’t make it clear this is this world’s version of “America’s Got Talent”. I remembered that this show plays a part in the origin I wrote for “Spiderous-Man”. This is yet another story I want to tell at some point. With that established it would seem weird if he didn’t say something about that.

You also might’ve noticed that the some new fonts used for this comic. Over the last couple weeks I’ve searched through hundreds of fonts and downloaded a bunch. These should be “cleaner” and easier to read than the fonts I was using before. Hope you like em’?

One thing I try to be is fair. Well fair is fair. “The Flash’s” finale wasn’t half bad. I doesn’t at all make up for this season, but it wasn’t bad.

The way they get around “Iris” getting killed was clever. It also they solved another problem by getting rid of a character that kinda sucked. “Caitlyn” doesn’t seem to be all villain which is good. In general, the show seemed to finally get what it was doing wrong and it seems its headed in a better direction.

To be clear though EVERYTHING about “Savitar” is still stupid. This show STILL needs to stop with having speedsters as the “big bad”. “Kid Flash” still sucks. There still needs to be less nonsense science. With that siad, this show might pull it together next season.

Finally Meeting All The Celestial Admirals… They’re Like “Sailor Moon” & Her Friends If Ethnic & Bitchy

I have so many ideas for these characters. With this comic I wanted to give a taste of all the them and the dynamics between them. This comic was a lot easier to put together than I thought it was going to be. I had to cut stuff, but they were “easier cuts”.

I had to cut a lot of of this one. Every character had more to say. J-Pop’s verse was longer. Admrial A said something about how there was almost a nationwide boycott on her. This was over a subtle weed reference in one of her songs. To me the stuff I changed with Sadistic Squirrel’s dialog was for the better. Him cheering for J-Pop to choke wasn’t in there when I first wrote it.

Half-watched Half Review Of The Season 2

Finale Of Supergirl

So I half watched the finale to “Supergirl” while I worked on this, this morning. The finale seemed okay. A little anti-climatic, but not bad. I can’t see “The Flash” pulling off anything that going to make it worth the season we’ve been through with this show. Everything about “Savitar” alone makes it impossible. Guess we’ll see though…

“The Flash” Beats “Supergirl” In The Race For Crappiness

I’m going to call the winner. During this season of “DC Comics” “CW” shows there’s been a clear race to the bottom between “Supergirl” and “The Flash”… Guess you should never bet against “The Flash” in a race. As I write this I haven’t seen the finale to “Supergirl” yet. It hasn’t even aired yet actually. Unless something in that finale is the one stupidiest things I’ve ever seen “The Flash” is worse.

“XXX” 3 It Gets Stupider Still

Speaking of the stupidest things I ever seen I half-watched the last “XXX” movie this weekend. Good lord! Everything said or done in that movie is stupid. To be clear, I’m not “avant garde” movie snob. I watch more action movies and comic book movies than anything else. This movie makes “The Expendables” look like “Citzen Kane” or something. Please America, stop liking and supporting garbage!
