I usually write these comics for the week on Sunday night. At some point earlier in the week I have a general idea what I want to do. This week I knew I wanted to have something about the “Justice League” trailer. I also wanted to make fun of that “Supergirl”/ “Flash” musical thing. The main theme of the week was the kissing and choking stuff. As I mentioned yesterday I got this idea from tweets from @thegoofyartist . What I’m getting at is I didn’t go in thinking “I’m going to have squirting joke” in Thursday’s comic?

What ends up in the comics is what happens when I develop a “rhythm” for the characters talking to each other. “This character says this”. “This leads to that”. “Oh man that would crazy”. Voila! You get “yada yada squirting”.

Before I get into the comic I gotta say something. It’s a sad day when a “Spider-Man” trailer gets me more hyped than “Justice League’s”. “Justice League’s” trailer got past the “this is going to be terrible” phase into the “this might be good” phase. “Spider-Man’s” trailer got me to the “I want to see this” phase.

Enough of that, on to today’s comic. The idea for this one came from some tweets from Zee Bee AKA @thegoofyartist . It started with a couple tweets about “how people came up with kissing is weird”. Then a tweet that was a “Sailor Moon” meme about choking. It was such a weird trasition it sparked this.

Can’t lie she’s kind of a gold mine for my warped little brain. This is the 3rd idea she’s inspired. The first was last year’s hoiday special where I had her be a character in it. You can see that here http://bit.ly/qbxmas3 . The second is a BIG story I haven’t started yet that I’m still mapping out in my head. IF I do it, it will be a story that sorta sums up the storylines going on in this comic including:

  • Special-Girl (“Supergirl”) as Trump’s Czar of Superpowered Bitches
  • The rumor that The Minstrel (“Harley Quinn”) is actually Kellyanne Conway
  • & Where clones such as “Weirdera ( female “Bizarro”) and Fiddy Fo’ (“X-23”) come from

And all that came from her mean mugging while dancing with a “unicorn” filter. What can I say? My brain does weird stuff. Tomorrow all these guys are back except Slowku to talk more about choking… It gets worse… Hope you enjoy and see ya then

Apex, & Quickie On The New “American World Protectors” Movie Trailer & A Musical Crossover

On Saturday the new trailer for “Justice League” came out. There’s actual hope now this movie won’t be terrible. The action actually looks good it doesn’t seem as bleak as the other “DCEU” movies. There are still problems though which include:

  • As implied in this comic the attempts at humor are still weak
  • There was no way this was going to change, but everything about “The Flash” is wrong and his costume looks stupid
  • “Mera”, “Commisioner Gordon”, and random Atlanteans and Amazons made it into the trailer. This looks like a lot of wasted time on non-relevant characters.
  • Still no sign of “Superman”. If they’re still saving him as a surprise then why? Everyone knows he’s gonna be in it. If he’s going to be in it a little bit that’s gonna be dissapointing.

Oh and if it wasn’t clear that “Flash”/”Supergirl” musical crossover thing was awful! Tomorrow…. Things get weird as Slowku and Freedom Female replace Apex and Quickie. Hope you enjoy and see ya then!

Not sure exactly what image you’ll be seeing with this but it will from panel 2 of this comic. Finally finished watching “Iron Fist”. This show is getting a ridiculous amount of hate for being not great, but not terrible. Especially after seing this week’s “Supergirl” and “The Flash”. “Supergirl” was a normal crappy episode, but “The Flash”… Wow…

So this week’s episode of “The Flash” was the big “musical crossover” with “Supergirl”… I’m actually angry they wasted a whole episode on this. This was unacceptable in how horrible it was. This episode took most of what sucks about both shows and added crappy singing to it. That still doesn’t capture quite how bad this was.

Hollywood, sit down we need to talk… Musical episodes… Stop doing them! There are only 2 shows ever that did them well. “Buffy” which did it by far the best, and “Daria” did a pretty good one. You people aren’t Joss Whedon. It’s almost an automatic fail episode even trying. DON’T!

Here’s the real kicker though. You think the whole singing part is over and… “Barry” sings a WHOLE GODDAMN SONG to “Iris” and then proposes AGAIN… The only realistic ending is “Iris” getting so dry she instantly dies of dehydration. Her laughing hysterically and leaving “Barry” never to return would’ve also been acceeptable.

Then they actually try to sell the songs to this garbage. FOH!

I haven’t finished “Iron Fist” yet. I forgot what was going on and had to rewatch episode 12 and only got halfway through it. So let’s move on to “Supergirl”. I’m a good ways into this week’s episode and I gotta say I’m already getting tired of her and “Mon-El”. Either they’re so lovey dovey it’s gross or they’re fighting about something stupid. Can this show get a “big bad” already?

I watched another episodes and a half of “Iron Fist” last night. I plan to finish it tonight. In my list of stuff that’s wrong with “Iron Fist” I did yesterday I forgot the biggest one. That is the fact that you never see this place “K’un-Lun” where “Iron Fist gets trained.

This seems to be a diberate choice, but I’d say it was the wrong one.

Again “Iron Fist” is decent, but not great. Tomorrow Jade Archer and Fiddy Fo’ talk to Hazard Hands about his show. Hope you enjoy and see ya then!

Special-Girl, Hazard Hands, Apex & Quickie On Hazard Hands’ Show

I’ve (half) watched the first 10 episodes of “Iron Fist” and it is true. “Iron Fist” in not was good as the other “Marvel” “Netflix” shows. Keep in mind that’s a HIGH bar to measure up to. “Daredevil”, “Jessica Jones”, and “Luke Cage” were each unique entertainment experiences. “Iron Fist” is not quite that.

What it is, is above average. I would say “Lucifer” is an average show. If they took it off I wouldn’t care but it’s enjoyable. It’s a procederal with some gimmicks that keep it interesting. “Iron Fist” is better than that.

So what are the problems?

  • There’s a lot of “been there done that” in the first few episodes. “Batman Begins”, “Arrow”, “Dr. Strange”, and even “Legion” had covered this territory
  • There’s not a lot to “Danny Rand” as a character.
  • “Danny” does something kinda messed up which I’ll get into tomorrow
  • The best characters on the show are characters we already met
  • The action isn’t great. It’s not terrible, but especially after “Daredevil” you expect more
  • “Iron Fist” seemed to have to do the “heavy lifting” as far as setting up “The Defenders” show. Bottom line, it’s not great but it’s pretty good. Nowhere near as bad as critics have rated it.

Tomorrow Luscious Trapp replaces Apex and Quickie. Then Hazard Hands tries to figure out one specific criticism about his show. Hope you enjoy and see ya then!

I write these things for the comics the morning before you see them. I’m too tired to write at night when I setup the posts for these comics. I say this because once again I’m in a position where I don’t know what you’re going to be seeing.

“The History Of Comics With Q-boy” as a whole for a while has been a journey of “learning from the masters” for me. I’ve been trying to learn by drawing in the styles of many of the great artists in comics. These last comics taking place in the “Silver Age Of Comics” are sort of like a final exam for me. The test is to take all the artists I’ve used (and a few new ones) and sum up the end of the “Silver Age Of Comics”.
