*SPOILER ALERT if you haven’t read “Civil War II” 3*
“Hawkeye” done went and killed “The Hulk”. Character deaths in these crossovers aren’t even annoying anymore they’re just like “yeah whatever”. Ya know what’s a great idea “let’s aggressively confront a guy who become a monsters when angry with a gang of superheroes, make accusations, and hack into his personal files”. Mind you this is after him not becoming “The Hulk” for over a year, and working to continue that streak.
Gotta say for the many faults of the original “Civil War” it had novelty and the art going for it. The art in “Civil War II” is good but there seems to be far less action.
Tomorrow Ms. Majors dispels rumors about the death of The Smasher. Hope you enjoy and see ya then!
The History Of Comics With Q-boy #57 New Gun Same Holster
The Spider is at it again, and again things don’t go well for them. Here we meet this world’s version of “Nick Fury”, Dick Anger. Figured since “Marvel” eventually made “Nick Fury” Black I’d just start with him being Black. All of the panels of this comic are based on the work of Jim Steranko, and specifically…
Panel 3 has an interesting history as in the original image the last part was changed to a gun in a holster instead of what was originally drawn to be less sexual. The gun in the holster is many ways actually more suggestive, and of course I completely undercut the whole thing by having a guy say “hooboy we bangin'”. This panel is based on the bottom section of a page from “Nick Fury: Agent Of S.H.I.E.L.D.” 2 which you can see @ http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_KypEs8uC3b4/TTGlRK6jo1I/AAAAAAAABY4/S7qBWzlL-gQ/s1600/Nick_Fury_002p.jpg
Next time there is a great search for a man known as “The Virtuoso”. Check out new “Criminal And Crimefighter Conversations” on Tuesday-Thursday. Hope you enjoy and see ya then!
Now in “Marvel” there’s is or will be 2 “Captain Americas”, “Thors”, “Spider-Men”, and “Iron Men” at the same time. That seems confusing from a branding perspective as well as within the “Marvel” universe itself. If someone yells out “Captain America” in a battle you don’t want 2 guys responding. All of these choices were to help promote diversity which is admirable, but I really wish “Marvel” would just put the time and effort into creating entirely new characters, and using characters that already exist. This is what they did with “Luke Cage”. They got rid of the yellow shirt and the headband, and started using him. Now he’s got a show coming out on “Netflix” after being part of the “Jessica Jones” show (which is based on the comic “Alias” where “Luke Cage” started being used again and gaining popularity).
“The Falcon” is awesome in the movies. So why not make the comic version of him more like the movie one? That’s what they did with “Nick Fury”. Anyways that’s it for this week. Next week starts off with a “The History Of Comics With Q-boy” where America-Man is called in for a rescue mission and we meet the man known as Dick Anger. New “Criminal And Crimefighter Conversations” Tuesday-Thursday. Hope you enjoy and see ya then!
In “Marvel” the current “Captain Marvel” is “Carol Danvers” who use to be “Ms. Marvel”. The current “Ms. Marvel” is a young Pakastani girl named “Kamala Kahn” who is also an “Inhuman” (cuz’ you can’t throw a rock without hitting one of them nowadays). There’s also “Monica Rambeau” who is a black woman (she now goes be “Spectrum”) who was “Captain Marvel” who I kinda combined with “Carol Danvers” for “Ms. Majors”.
All that is to say there’s a lot going on with the “Captain Marvel” and “Ms. Marvel” names. (And that’s without getting into the original “Captain Marvel” in “Marvel” who was a “Kree” spy or something that died of cancer or “DC’s” “Captain Marvel” which is now “Shazam” orginally created by “Fawcett Comics”). I actually think making “Carol Danvers” into “Captain Marvel” is one of the few times where giving a character the mantle of another pre-existing character actually worked. “Ms. Marvel” had a lot a baggage and “Captain Marvel” had been long forgotten at this point.
Tomorrow Wing-Man discusses when the possibility of taking the mantle of America-Man. Hope you enjoy and see ya then!
It seems like the plan after “Marvel’s” current big event “Civil War II” is that a lot of the major characters are going to disappear (die?) and new/ lesser known characters are going to take their place. One of the biggest examples is that new “Iron Man” is suppose to be a 15 year old Black girl named “Riri Williams”. Yep I think it is actually “Iron Man” and not some female version of the name. I think making her 15 makes it unrealistic even for a comic. “Marvel” really has a a thing for having 2 characters sharing a name lately, but that’s something I think I’ll get into later.
Tomorrow Ms. Majors discusses being and having a protege. Hope you enjoy and see ya then!
Special-Man, Q-boy, & Slowku On Slowku Cracking Up
Family is a weird thing with “Goku”. The only family he every really has as a kid is “Grandpa Gohan” (who he unknowingly kills when he turns into a giant ape during a full moon). The only blood relative he ever encounters kidnaps his son and “Goku” has to help “Piccolo” kill him. His race the “Saiyans” seem to have no concept of family. Children seem to be bred (strangely enough like how “Krytonians” are in “Man Of Steel”) and then they are sent to wipe out all life on planets as infants.
You can make a big stretch and say his teacher’s over time are like father figures, but they aren’t really. Pretty sad when the closest thing you have to a Dad is a perverted old hermit who lives alone on a tiny island.
Or the cat guy who lives alone on a top of a giant tower. Or the guy who lives even higher in the sky on a lookout above Earth. Or the guy who lives alone on a tiny planet in the afterlife. See the pattern… Isolation. “Goku” lives a pretty isolated life with extended periods where he is completely alone.
I’ve mentioned before how “Goku” takes pretty much any opportunity to abandon his family, and how messed up it was putting the pressure to beat “Cell” on “Gohan”, but he makes up for it by sacrificing himself right? Well here’s the thing… “Goku” could have easily escaped. “Goku” teleports “Cell” to “King Kai’s” planet and has over 30 seconds to teleport back to Earth (I believe this time was shortened in “Dragonball Z Kai” though). That may not sould like a lot of time. But in that time he talks to “King Kai” and just stands there for kind of a while. Check it out in this clip…
That’s it for this week. See ya next Tuesday-Thursday for more “Criminal And Crimefighter Conversations”. Hope you enjoy and see ya then!
Special-Man, Q-boy, & Slowku On Q-boy & Slowku’s Friendship
“Goku” is a pretty jovial guy. If you bully or hurt people “Goku” gets kinda mad in a “stop or I’ll have to hurt you” way. He’ll still be very quick to show you mercy. Beat up his wife and kidnap his kid he gets madder. As you can see in this clip from the first “Dragonball Z” movie “Dead Zone”
Just for fun here’s a funnier version
Kill his friends, family, the entire population of Earth her gets even madder. There are only 2 times when “Goku” is filled with murderous rage in all of “Dragonball” and both are when “Krillin” gets killed (the 2nd time being the thing that pushes “Goku” to become “Super Saiyan” for the first time). This is interesting because when they first meet “Krillin” is pretty much a dick to “Goku”.
Oh and the schizophrenic girl mentioned is refering to “Launch” who becomes homicidal whenever she sneezes as you can see in this clip…
Tomorrow these guys get a little deeper into to what’s going on with Slowku. Hope you enjoy and see ya then!
Special-Man, Q-boy, & Slowku On Slowku VS Special-Man Again
Yep after a whole week with these guys last week I’m sticking with em’. So I’ve hinted about this in previous Q-boy is basically “Krillin” from “Dragonball” or at least he’s plays that role. The thing that Slowku is talking about is a more messed up version of a similar things that happens in “Dragonball”. You can check out a video of it here http://qr.net/bRse2
Next time these guys talk some more about Q-boy and Slowku’s friendship. Hope you enjoy and see ya next time!
America-Man On Rumors He’s Been A Nazi Being Proven False
Yep issue 2 of the “Captain America” comic where the “HydraCap” thing started came out and immediately showed it was all false memories created by the “Cosmic Cube” all orchestrated by the “Red Skull”. There’s more to it but who cares. You can all put your “TeamCap” shirts back on. We’ll leave it at that. Hope you enjoy, happy 4th, and see ya tomorrow for a a new “Criminal And Crimefighter Conversations”.
The Illustrious Illusionist And The Delusions Of The Kidnapped Creator
The character Ron Rankenfile is based on the comic book artist Jim Steranko, and the panels of this comics are based on his work. On “Wikipedia” he’s described as “an Americangraphic artist, comic book writer/artist, historian, magician, publisher and film production illustrator. His most famous comic book work was with the 1960ssuperspy feature “Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.” in “Marvel Comics'” “Strange Tales” and in the subsequent eponymous series. Steranko earned lasting acclaim for his innovations insequential artduring theSilver Age of Comic Books, particularly his infusion ofsurrealism,op art, andgraphic designinto the medium”. In this story I wanted to capture the idea that this he was truly a multi-talented person. On to the panels…
Panels 1-3 are based on 3 panels from “Nick Fury, Agent Of S.H.I.E.L.D.” 1 which you can see here http://qr.net/bRgMM
Panel 4 is based on the cover of “Nick Fury, Agent Of S.H.I.E.L.D.” 7 which you can see here http://qr.net/bRgN7
Panel 5 is based on the cover of “Creatures On The Loose” 22 which you can see here http://qr.net/bRgQ2
Panel 6 is based on the cover of “Strange Tales” 153 which you see here http://qr.net/bRgSm
Panels 7-10 are based on panels from “Captain America” 110 which you can see here http://qr.net/bRgUX
That’s it for this one. Next time we catch up with Q-boy’s ex-girlfriend Helen Seabrook AKA Miss Direction in an adventure that involves America-Man and introduces us to the man known as Dick Anger. Look out for a special Independence Day “Criminal And Crimefighter Conversations” as well as the normally schedules comics on Tuesday-Thursday. Have a great Independence Day everyone! Hope you enjoy and see ya then!
