Criminal And Crimefighter Conversations 179 – Special-Girl, Hazard Hands, Apex & Quickie On Hazard Hands’ Show

Criminal And Crimefighter Conversations 179 –

Special-Girl, Hazard Hands, Apex & Quickie On Hazard Hands’ Show

ccc-179-specialgirl(czar)hazardhandsapexandquickietemplate-01

I’ve (half) watched the first 10 episodes of “Iron Fist” and it is true. “Iron Fist” in not was good as the other “Marvel” “Netflix” shows. Keep in mind that’s a HIGH bar to measure up to. “Daredevil”, “Jessica Jones”, and “Luke Cage” were each unique entertainment experiences. “Iron Fist” is not quite that.

What it is, is above average. I would say “Lucifer” is an average show. If they took it off I wouldn’t care but it’s enjoyable. It’s a procederal with some gimmicks that keep it interesting. “Iron Fist” is better than that.

So what are the problems?

  • There’s a lot of “been there done that” in the first few episodes. “Batman Begins”, “Arrow”, “Dr. Strange”, and even “Legion” had covered this territory
  • There’s not a lot to “Danny Rand” as a character.
  • “Danny” does something kinda messed up which I’ll get into tomorrow
  • The best characters on the show are characters we already met
  • The action isn’t great. It’s not terrible, but especially after “Daredevil” you expect more
  • “Iron Fist” seemed to have to do the “heavy lifting” as far as setting up “The Defenders” show. Bottom line, it’s not great but it’s pretty good. Nowhere near as bad as critics have rated it.

Tomorrow Luscious Trapp replaces Apex and Quickie. Then Hazard Hands tries to figure out one specific criticism about his show. Hope you enjoy and see ya then!

This panel mimics the cover to “Green Lantern” 75 by artist Gil Kane. You can check it out here http://bit.ly/gl75cover . “Green Lantern” 75 is significant because it is the last issue before the title started a classic run. The title was then written by Dennis O’Neil with art by Neal Adams.

“Green Arrow” was also added to the book as co-star. According to “Wikipedia” this is also seen as part of the end of the Silver Age of Comics.

That’s really it for this week. On Monday we return with another panel from “The History Of Comics With Q-boy” 64. After that check out new “Criminal And Crimefighter Conversations” on Tuesday-Thursday. Finally next Friday you’ll get the complete “The History Of Comics With Q-boy” 64 comic. All this time and only 1 panel?! Sorry this comic has been so long delayed. It seems like between the holiday comic and the hourly comics I did there always seemed to be something in the way of doing this comic. This whole comic is actually finished but I’m going to try to something different. I’m going to start releasing this comic one panel at a time. Normally this comic is four panels. l’ll release one panel Monday, one on Friday, one the next Monday, and the full comic the next Friday.

When we last left this comic Q-boy’s ex-girlfriend Helen Seabrook AKA Miss Direction suddenly got her powers back. She and Q-boy then got back together. Unknown to them it was Dr. Do who gave her back her powers and used the same process to increase Q-boy’s enemy Kill-Man’s power. All of this is leading to the end of the Silver Age of Comics for Q-boy. This comic is based on the cover to “Fantastic Four #102” which you can see here http://bit.ly/ff102cover . This issue of “Fantastic Four” is significant because according to “Wikipedia” it is considered the end of the Silver Age of Comics  to Silver Age historian Craig Shutts as it was “ Jack Kirby’s last regular-run issue before the artist left to join DC Comics”.

Oh and what Q-ball said is “hello friends. I have not appeared in a long time. I hope I survive. Otherwise this comic’s disturbing lack of diversity will be even worse”.

Check out new “Criminal And Crimefighter Conversations” on Tuesday-Thursday and the next panel of this comic on Friday. Hope you enjoy and see ya then!

So for those of you saying “give a Trump a chance” it’s now been a few days and he’s basically stopped the EPA from doing or saying anything, approved pipelines, and blamed millions of illegal immigrants voting for his losing the popular vote. Meanwhile they’re trying to get rid of all the almost universally approved of things in the Affordable Care Act. Is this enough of a chance yet?

So this comic is basically making fun of the early episodes of “Arrow” where Ollie was pretty much just a guy with a list who straight up murdered people with arrows.  The show became better as a whole, but it was kinda great in an insane way. Ollie would get his “Ninja Warrior” on doing that salmon latter thing and then go out a murder people who have “failed the city”. It actually sounds more like a “Batman” villain then any type of hero. Still, good times…

That’s it for this week. There will be new Criminal And Crimefighter Conversations next Tuesday-Thursday with Wednesday being the anniversary of the start of this whole comic with hourly comic day. To quickly explain hourly comic day is described by knowyourmeme.com as “an annual event that takes place on February 1st where participants draw one short comic for every hour that they awake”.

Last year I launched this comic on this day with a comic every hour from 12AM to 12AM the next day, and I’m going for it again this year. To be clear, traditionally people do their comics on the day and I certainly didn’t and am not doing that this year. These comic were and will be made in advance. So far I’ve written about 2/3 of it, and already its pretty nuts! Hope you enjoy and see ya then!
