The Smasher, General Magnetic, & Dr. Do On The Secret Group Of Heroes

ccc-47-smashergeneralmagneticanddrdo

I realized that for something called “Criminal And Crimefighter Conversations” I’d haven’t had many of this comics with villains/criminals.  Honestly I have way fewer designs for villains than for heroes.  This is the first comic you’ve seen with my “Magneto” character, General Magnetic (comics with him have been made that I’m saving for Patreon and or book collections of these comics).  This is also the first comic with the Smasher since the launch of the comic on “hourly comic day”. You can check out that comic here https://qboyandtheninja.com/2016/02/01/the-big-ol-criminal-and-crimefighter-conversations-24-hourly-comics-jamboree-spectacular-7pm-the-smasher-on-america-man-civil-unrest/ . Dr. Do has actually been in 2 comics before.

With all that said, that’s it for this week.  Next week starts out with a new “History Of Comics With Q-boy” where Q-boy faces off again with one of his greatest foes Kill-Man.  The Tuesday-Thursday new “Criminal And Crimefighter Conversations”.  Hope you enjoy and see ya then!

This comic is about “The Illuminati” the secret group  in Marvel that made decisions at various important points in Marvel history.  The group originally was “Iron Man”, “Prof. X, “Mr. Fantastic”, “Blackbolt” of the “Inhumans”, “Namor”, and “Dr. Strange”.  Over time the group has changed a few times.  To me the group is a bad idea that went way too far as they’ve gone on to do pretty reprehensible things.  One specific thing they did that’s mentioned in the comic is “The Hulk” being sent off to space which eventually led to “Planet Hulk” and “World War Hulk”.

Tommorow Special-Girl, Muffina Winters, and Quickie discuss the network their shows are and were on. Hope you enjoy and see ya then!

I still can’t wrap my head around why DC has a different “Flash” for the movies.  Or why they won’t just use the “Arrowverse” as the basis for all their live-action stuff. Seem like such a wasted opportunity.

On a completely unrelated topic so far the early review for “X-men: Apocalypse” are bad.  I really had hopes for this one.  Also word is the next “X-men” movie is suppose to take place in the 90’s.  Okay we’ve had a whole “past trilogy”.  Let’s get to present day again already!  Whether “Apocalypse” is good or bad I think is time for Bryan Singer to do something else.  I think its time for a reboot for “X-men”.  Really its time for “X-men” to come home to Marvel.

Tomorrow we meet The Innovator and Proud Lion as they talk with The Good Knight about “America-Man: Civil Unrest” and some other stuff. Hope you enjoy, and see ya then!

Looks like “Black Widow” is finally getting her own movie. Although I’m glad to hear about it I hope this isn’t something rushed out due to fan pressure. I know Scarlett Johansson probably wouldn’t slum it and do TV, but it would be awesome to see her on “Daredevil”, as he and “Black Widow” had a thing for a while.  Or “Daredevil” could show up in her movie, but that probably won’t happen either.

I re-watched “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” yesterday to make sure it was really better than “Civil War” (it is) and one of the things I liked most is Cap and Black Widow. What I especially like it that they’re NOT a couple.  That would’ve been so cliche and terrible. She’s a buddy and better yet a buddy trying to get him some.  I also re-watched “Age Of Ultron” and this might seem crazy but I think I like it more than “Civil War” too despite its many flaws.  “Ultron” > “Zemo” and “Hulk” and “Thor” take things to another level. One of the biggest things “Age Of Ultron” messes up is “Black Widow”.  One thing my friend Chris brought one time when talking about it is that one of the key things about “Black Widow” in the original “Avengers” movie is that she isn’t all butthurt about her past. She did bad stuff, she’s trying to do good stuff now. She fakes being all messed up about her past to trick Loki, but that’s it.  Then in “Age Of Ultron” we get her “ballerina” sequence which I think would’ve more effective had we not seen it. (In fact I think they should cut all the mind control stuff.  Also where are Scarlet Witch’s mind controlling powers in “Civil War”?) Then she REALLY throws it out there to Banner who rejects her because… I honestly still don’t know… He’s like “I dunno if she likes me” and even Cap’s like “bruh!”.  Then she makes it even more clear and he’s like “I’m a monster and I can’t have kids” and she’s like “me too”.  And then… Nothing… Then “Black Widow” get captured by “Ultron” which is really weak! Then at the end Banner takes a plane and flies off for some reason.  Hope you get better luck in your movie Widow.

Tomorrow Special-Girl, Spiderous-Man, and Quickie talk about switching sides. Hope you enjoy, and see ya then!

The History Of Comics With Q-boy #52 The Colorful Countess AKA The Secret Weapon (Censored)

The History Of Comics With Q-boy #52 The Colorful Countess AKA The Secret Weapon (Censored)

Marlene Severie is based on Marie Severin whose was one of very few female comic books artists during the Silver Age of comics. She started out as a colorist and eventually moved on to doing penciling and inking.  She is probably best known for her work on Marvel’s comedy magazine “Crazy” and the comedy comic “Not Branch Echhh”.  She also helped to co-create the original Spider-Woman.

Panel 4 is based on two panels from two pages from Not Brand Echhh #3 (panel 3 on the first page and panel 5 on the second page) which you can check out here http://comicsworkbook.tumblr.com/image/135398438602

I hear some people have been talking about that 3rd Captain America movie that came out…. So yeah I ended up seeing it twice on Saturday.  Some have said it’s the best Marvel movie… Other say it’s the best comic book movie period…. Does it live up to the talk…. Is it truly the greatest of the great?

(spoilers ahead)

Well first to be very clear it is a very good movie.  BvS can’t even be mentioned in the same sentence. The big showdown is absolutely awesome and ranks up with the best fights ever…. But no it’s not the best comic book movie.  It’s not the best Marvel movie.  It’s not even the best Captain America movie.  Marvel’s weakness in it’s movies are usually the villains and this one has a very weak villain with a plan that make little sense and with a weak motivation.  The big problem with this movie is in trying to keep the villain and their plans mysterious is make them confusing. Here some other nitpicky stuff

  • The movie tries to be a Captain America movie but it really should’ve been named “Captain America & Iron Man : Civil War”, “Avengers: Civil War”, or “Marvel’s Civil War”
  • Cap’s position is dumb.  I just can’t get behind it. They make Tony and the government go too far, but it just seems like there was a way to easily comprimise
  • Wanda literally just killed a bunch of people and Tony is like “she should lay low for a bit” and Cap’s reaction is like “you MONSTER!”
  • Aunt May being young and hot just feels wrong.  I think it’s important that Aunt May is kinda old and frail and Peter always has to worry about taking care of her.
  • Spider-man in general could have been fit in more neatly. You just change the “college” speech/grant scene to a “gifted student” scene and have Tony see something that gets him to figure out Peter is Spider-man
  • They just kinda wasted Crossbones
  • The kiss with Agent 13 didn’t feel earned
  • Kinda weak to introduce all these “other Winter Soliders” and then do nothing with them

The unsung hero of the movie is Falcon. He really kicks ass in the movie.  I was really cool seeing a more “typical” Avenger’s mission. No one feels like the they were over powered and underpowered in the fights. One small exception is toward the end when Iron Man and Cap are fight it seems like Iron Man’s armor suddenly get damaged way easier than normal. I’m not sure where I rank this movie about I think the top 5 comic books movies are…

  1. The Dark Knight (honestly may be unbeatable with Heath Ledger’s “Joker”)
  2. The Avengers (also may be unbeatable because you can never recapture the magic)
  3. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (just plain a great film. Avengers only beats it because it has all the other heroes)
  4. Guardians Of The Galaxy (another just plain great film. Cap 2 only beats it out because it’s darker and he end credits scenes are better.  It’s that close)
  5. Deadpool (pretty much every second is violence, something funny, or both. Honestly this might rank higher if I re-watch all these)

Next time with see the comic Marlene created with features a big fight with Kill-man.  Also Tuesday-Thursday new Criminal And Crimefighter Conversations. Hope you enjoy and see ya then!

Supposedly Marvel has been talking with Fox possibly about an “Avengers VS X-men” movie.  If Fox and Marvel make a deal DC REALLY has no hope being escaping being number 2. Could we actually get a good Fantastic Four movie? Deadpool in the MCU?  Avengers with Wolverine and Spider-man?

That’s the saddest part is. Marvel has literally been winning with both hands tied behind it’s back. And winning by a lot. I know I’ve gone on a lot about “Batman V Superman” but people aren’t grasping how big a failure it is.  DC pretty much gave you all of it’s best in one movie.  Again it put the 3 most recognizable names in the world in one movie.  You take the Batman and Superman logo anywhere in the world and people know what they mean. Marvel has no equivalent. The closest you could get is maybe Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Deadpool (after the movie) and you’d still probably have to add the Avengers and it still not the same.

I think the key is Marvel is still hungry.  You hear the Russo brother (the directors of “Winter Soldier” and “Civil War”) talk in an interview and you know these guy aren’t taking anything for granted. They write as if they know Spiderman is going to be in the movie so that Marvel has to fight to get him.  They don’t settle for less.

That’s it for this week. Next week starts with a new “History Of Comics With Q-boy” and Tuesday-Thurday we’ll have some new “Criminal And Crimefighter Conversations”. See ya then, and hope you enjoy!
