Let’s talk about some pretty unrelated comics. “Civil War II” 7 came out last week and I saw a pretty glowing review of it on CBR.com. Supposedly, this issue was suppose to turn the whole thing around (Note: SPOILERS AHEAD)… Nah, son.  This series is just dumb.  It starts with the guy that can predict the future that everyone is fighting over suddenly being about to actually go to the future/other realities and he’s in the “Old Man Logan” world. Starting off with “Inhumans” and “Old Man Logan” that’s 2 big minuses in my book. The guy talks to “Old Man Logan” and he’s a dick to the guy and won’t answer his questions. “Logan” then says something like “Stark pushes her to far” or something. This part feels like it’s they just needed to add pages. Then we pick up from last time where it was predicted that “Miles Morales” kills “Captain America”. So naturally everyone involved does whatever they can so that doesn’t happen. Oh wait no “Miles” and “Cap” meetup right where this is suppose to happen “to prove that it won’t happen”. “Captain Marvel” once again being reasonable and fair calls off cops from taking “Miles” in and tries to get “Miles” away so he doesn’t end up somehow killing “Captain America”. Then “Iron Man” attacks her in some “Hulkbuster” version of “War Machine’s” armor. Then it looks like “Captain Marvel” kills “Iron Man”. Dumb!

“Death Of X” 4 also came out. The whole series comes down to this. “Cyclops” is dead and his death is lamer than the death most people think he had. Also the “Inhumans” aren’t just terrible character their terrible people as they actually fight the “X-men” so they can’t stop this cloud that’s killing them because it creates more “Inhumans”. Dumb!

Yeah so this one is pretty late. My schedule has changed a lot over the last few weeks, and that along with doing the pre-election special for “Criminal And Crimefighter Conversations” held this up.  Here we begin the final big adventure before we end this Silver Age chapter of “The History Of Comics With Q-boy”.  I figured for this I’d base the panels on all the artists who have been featured in the Silver Age chapter of these comics. In “Dragonball” “Goku’s” wife “Chi Chi” can best be described as a nag. She nags “Goku” about stuff, cooks, and is obsessed with “Gohan’s” education. Then after “Goku” dies during the “Cell Saga” (and again I say I think he died on purpose to get away from his family) she seems so broken from loneliness that she doesn’t really care about her other son “Goten’s” education at all.

(Slight spoiler alert) I’m not caught up on “Dragonball Super” but I believe “Chi Chi” and “Goten” get killed (this also probably gets undone through time travel as “Future Trunks” is involved). Before this “Chi Chi” forces “Goku” to farm turnips for money. Then unless the fan translation is way off “Goku” comes into TONS of money and “Chi Chi” somehow spends all of it (they do get a nicer house though). There’s also a famous technically non-cannon filler episode of “Dragonball Z” where “Chi Chi” forces “Goku” (and “Piccolo” who is living with them while training “Gohan” because he eats there even though it’s clearly established his people only drink water) to get a driver’s license.

Quickie, Hell’s Hunter, Luscious Trapp, & Mr. Mystic On Jobs & Strange Coincidences

“Caitlin Snow” becoming “Killer Frost” so far is the saving grace of this season of “The Flash”.  Everything with “Wally” is stupid and annoying; the new version of “Wells” sucks; and there’s way too many speedsters now. I think part of the problem is that the show lost it’s point. Originally, the show was the lighter and more superpower-based part of the “DC Comics” “CW” shows. Now “Supergirl” and “Legends Of Tomorrow” have taken those roles.

In last night’s episode of “The Flash” “Killer Frost” acts as the “Dark Willow” from “Buffy” of the show by cutting through the crap and saying some really real stuff to “Barry”.  To be clear though, “Dark Willow” is much harsher/better. The part she calls out “Dawn’s” constant whining is the best.

I think “Supergirl” is losing me. It lost all the crappy romcom stuff  from season 1, but replaced it with stupid stuff like “Jimmy Olsen” being a superhero, and “Kara” being a reporter now. Now “Jimmy” and “Wynn” have to lie to her all the time and blah blah blah typical drama that most of these shows phased out of by now. The reporter thing just seems especially lazy. Oh I almost forgot about “Jimmy” running “CatCo” now which is also dumb.

“Miss Martian” seems like a decent addition to the show though.  So far of the “DC Comics” “CW” show it’s “Arrow” and “Legends Of Tomorrow” (this show improved A LOT) fighting for being the best show and “The Flash” and “Supergirl” fighting for being the worst.

I’m fighting the urge to get long-winded and preachy with all this election stuff. I’ll just say this. We have to stop needing to be “enthusiastic” about the candidate to turn out and vote for them. Because no matter how you look at it we’re always voting for Obama and his legacy, or Bernie and the platform he fought so hard to get the Democratic party to agree to. See that was pretty short. I had 3 paragraph before I shortened this…

So yeah comics. Superman flying around the Earth backwards to go back in time is stupid even by comic book science standards. Speaking of stupid, apparently there’s going to be an “Inhumans” show… Dammit “Marvel” why do you keep doing this?! Ya know what between the movies and the “Netflix” shows you deserve a pass on this and “Agents Of Shield”.  But please stop… Please…

I wanted to write something really long about the election, but honestly I’m really tired. So I’ll just say that on election night I felt dread, then despair, then motivated. We have to rush the polls at every single elections now.

On to the comic. The whole thing with White Swallow becoming her sister and mom refers to how on “Arrow” “Laurel” and “Sara Lance” were both “Black Canary” and how in the comics “Black Canary’s” mom was the original “Black Canary”.

As I write this it looks like America looked into the abyss… and jumped right in it. We just gotta carry on… Let’s just move on for now…

A lot of what is behind these comics is me wanting to fix things I don’t like in comics and shows. I’ve thought about how to fix “Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.” a lot, and it wouldn’t be easy especially at this point.  I’d definitely kill off most of the cast, bring back “Ward”, and keep “Simmons” and maybe “Coulson”.  I’d only keep “Coulson” because he’s already been killed, and he’d have a much smaller roll on the show. Then I’d bring in “Deathlok”, this black chick that use to be an agent that had a robot eye or something from an early episode, and maybe bring back “Mockingbird” and “Hunter”.

Now the hard part. I’d find someway to erase pretty much everything since Season 1.  Luckily nothing else in the “Marvel Cinematic Universe” seems to acknowledge “Inhumans” so that helps.

Who saw “Dr. Strange”?  “Marvel” did it again. Another great film that expands their universe and kept things fresh and inventive. “DC’s” movies so far aren’t even comparable. In fact comparing them is an insult to the craft Marvel puts into their movies.

Speaking of which a new trailer for the “Wonder Woman” movie was released, and it was okay, but the first one was better. As this comic points out there doesn’t seem to be a real villain. There’s this lady with a scarred face that might be one of “Wonder Woman’s” first villains but we haven’t seen her do anything and she’s not “Giganta” or “Cheetah” so who cares. I predict “Wonder Woman” will be the best of “DC’s” movies and might even reach into “good territory”, but fall short or “great”. We’ll see…
