This one is about “Magneto” and the messed up relationship he has with his kids “Quicksilver” and “Scarlet Witch”.  It should be noted that last I heard Marvel is saying that they aren’t “Magneto’s” kids, but I’m just ignoring that as everyone else should.  Once again I think it has something to do with “Inhumans”… Yeah keep trying to make “Inhumans” happen…

Here’s the problem with every “X-men” movie, “Professor X”, “Magneto”, “Mystique”, and “Wolverine” (when he’s a major character) hog up all the spotlight so other characters suffer.  Another problem is pointless changes to characters that don’t add anything.  In “Apocalypse” they give “Psylocke” a weird ability she never had for no reason at all. So here’s some complaints I’ve heard about “X-men: Apocalypse”:

  • Not enough action – No there’s plenty of action and more importantly it’s GOOD action.
  • Mystique isn’t blue most of the time – It’s clearly established in the movie why and it makes sense. She’s blue when it makes sense for her to be blue. Sure it actually because Jennifer Lawrence doesn’t wear the make up all the time but still it does make sense.
  • Psylocke doesn’t talk much – …. She’s a ninja… Granted she given no back story though.

Now on to the comic. So this is mainly about “Black Panther” and “Storm” being married (they’re not now).  I always found it kinda weird. Like they’re both from Africa so they had to have run into each other? I know that “Wakanda” is suppose to be in Northeastern Africa, but I established Proud Lion’s kingdom (which I don’t have a name for yet) as being in Southern Africa because I based his costume on the look of a dark-mane lion which are more common there. J-Pop & Mental Assassin On “Fresh-Men: Armageddon” & Their Names (Censored)

With “Batman V Superman” I said stuff about how the critics are usually right.  Let me preface this first by saying “RottenTomatos” score for “X-men: Apocalypse” is TWICE the score of “BvS” and the audience score is higher as well.  So yeah I’m saying it, the critics are wrong on this one. It’s a good movie.  Might even be the best “X-men” yet.  Does it have problems? Certainly (although so does “Civil War”)? But they are problems that are part of EVERY “X-men” movie. (I’ll probably go into those specific problems later this week). If the review is “”X-men” movies don’t measure up to the best Marvel movies” then yeah.  But NO movies do except “The Dark Knight” and “Deadpool”. And honestly the top 3 movies may be unbeatable. If you like “X-men” movies you’ll like this one. More important than anything “Wolverine” kills people.  And it is glorious!  You know that part in “X2” where he stabs that one guy and you desperately want more and they NEVER deliver! You get a nice taste here.

Moving on, this comic features the first appearance of my “Jubilee” and “Psylocke” characters.  Originally I was gonna name J-Pop, Time Bomb but I thought it was kinda weak.  I racked my brain for a while and finally came up with “J-Pop” which I like a lot better. Mental Assassin, isn’t a name I’m super thrilled with, but I established it somewhere else so I’m stuck with it and I can’t think of anything better.  As this comic shows a glimpse of, “Psylocke’s” history is super convoluted as she was originally a British woman who switched bodies with an Asian assassin woman  (and there’s a lot more).  I decided to just make her a British Asian assassin from the jump.  I went back and forth if she should be British and or speak with an accent.  Ultimately I thought the accent made her more interesting so I went with it.  I’m sure its pretty broken and  inaccurate British that’s a poor mix of different regions.  I actually tried to listen the “Essex” accent which is what I think Psylocke’s should be, but I couldn’t catch the specifics of it in a way you could write it.

Special-Girl, White Swallow, & Quickie On Quickie’s Show’s Season Finale & More Bad Bios (Censored)

Did ya’ll see the finale to “The Flash” last night?  It was…. I dunno… Most of this season there was something about the show I couldn’t put my finger on that just wasn’t right.  In fact its several things.  First is the non-sense science. Of course there’s going to be some in a show like this but I think it’s gone off the rails.  The past remnants or whatever (and being able to kill them) being one of the biggest ones.  Then there just this sense that the same things are happening over and over again.  “Zoom” just isn’t different enough from “Reverse Flash”.  The whole he’s a father like mentor who turns on him and is actually his enemy.  This person kills one of his parents in the house he grew up in , etc.

Then there’s the finale itself (spoilers ahead so you may wanna skip this paragraph if you haven’t watch “The Flash” yet).

The episode tried to “have it’s cake and eat it too” a few times.  They try to to make a big deal out of the fact that a past remnant of “The Flash” sacrifices himself (with a nice nod to “Crisis” though), but it just doesn’t work.  Barry’s fine, he standing right there.  Then maybe I missed something but why did “Zoom” want to destroy the multi-verse? Last time I checked he wanted to rule other Earths. Then last episode Zoom killed Barry’s dad, but wait the man in the mask his dopplegagger AND the real Jay Garrick.  Really?!  Then there’s Iris.  So after all this Barry’s like “we can’t date cuz’ I need to find myself” or something.  Look I can buy the Speed Force, time travel, and multiple universes, but saying you’re not gonna be with a chick THIS hot that you’ve been pining after pretty much your whole life cuz’ “you need to find yourself” I can’t.  Way beyond suspension of disbelief.  Oh and we end with Flash going back in time to the day his mom died (again!) and this time saving her. Which will almost certainly create a “Flashpoint”-like dystopian world so he’ll have to go back (AGAIN!) and reverse it. Maybe he’ll change things so “Supergirl” is in the “Arrow-verse” though which would be cool at least.

So back to DC’s “Rebirth” event one of the main things happening in it is the return of Wally West.  Gotta say Wally West in my Flash.  Oh yeah and the kid who plays him on the show really sucks.  I forgot to mention that. Anyways Wally is back, but it looks like he’s gonna be “Kid Flash” or some other not-quite-The-Flash.  That kinda sucks.  Enough of this, tomorrow “The Minstrel” discusses some rumors about “The Mad Jester” and some female-led movie her character is suppose to star in. Did ya’ll see the finale to “The Flash” last night?  It was…. I dunno… Most of this season there was something about the show I couldn’t put my finger on that just wasn’t right.  In fact its several things.  First is the non-sense science. “DC Comics” next big event is “Rebirth” which starts this week. Where once again DC is rebooting its universe.  This one is supposedly a “soft reboot” but it is a reboot nonetheless.  DC is always trying to fix it’s broken continuity and that alone is enough reason for Marvel to win any DC vs Marvel argument. They just keep doing it over and over and over again and they somehow make it worse every single time.  Even from what little has been revealed some terrible ideas are coming.  One idea is that “Wonder Woman” has a twin brother.  Gotta say this sounds like a bad idea, but I can give this one the benefit of the doubt.  One idea they got with the “Joker” I’ll go into in Thursdays comic.  But one is…. Wow…. One is that “Dr. Manhattan” from “Watchmen” is either the villain or has something to do with the “darkness” that has plagued the “DCU”.

No.   You guys milked “Watchmen” for your “Before Watchmen” event already. Which is like making a direct to DVD prequel to “Casablanca” or something.  The best of those comics were nice looking and inoffensive but pointless. Stop using these characters!

Of course they won’t though. At least it seems like they’re bring back some characters they got rid of.  That’s something I guess. Tomorrow Special-Girl, White Swallow, and Quickie discuss things that have been written about them.  Hope you enjoy and see ya then!
