Frag Count, Death Poll & Kill Screen On The “Chain Gang Improbable” Movie

ccc-83-fragcountdeathpollkillscreen

So “Kill Screen” is my “Deadshot” character. I figured I’d continue with the video game theme I started with “Frag Count” being my version of “The Punisher”… More importantly though…

Here’s the short review of “Suicide Squad”… It’s “passable”… It’s not terrible but’s its nowhere near good. Since the comparisons have to be made I don’t think it’s even as good as “Marvel’s” worst move “Thor: The Dark World”. Which I’d say is a “C+” movie at best.

Now the long review… If this movie came out 10 years ago it might have been considered “pretty good”. This would be in the days when comic book movies got bonus points for having “comic accurate costumes”, and small references as Easter eggs. If this movie came out before “Deadpool” it might have been a lot less disappointing as well. To be kind I’ll start with the good:

  • The soundtrack is pretty good
  • Will Smith actually did a decent job. I thought I was gonna feel like “that’s Will Smit in a costume” the whole movie
  • “Harley Quinn” didn’t end up as annoying as I thought she might
  • Though I didn’t like this version of “The Joker” I didn’t hate it as much as I thought I would

That’s pretty much it.  It never got super boring or do inexcusable things like “Man Of Steel” or “Batman V Superman” did, but those movies at least had some cool fight scenes. Generally, all the fighting has the camera too close so you can’t really see anything and most of the fighting isn’t with “real people” (boo!). Also most of the “Squad” doesn’t really do anything, and “the problem” could have been solved with any well-trained group of soldiers with missiles. Also things are “oversold” a lot in this movie. We get teased repeatedly about “El Diablo” using his powers and when he does (which is way too early in the movie to be effective) you’re like “that’s it?!”. They pointless say “Harley Quinn” is crazier and more fearless than “The Joker” (*eyeroll*). “Deadshot’s” daughter writes him EVERYDAY (gtfoh!). “Amanda Waller” is SO mean and badass… But then she does something super nice for “Deadshot” and “Harley Quinn”.

That’s where I’ll stop for now, and I’ll continue tomorrow. Next time Q-boy is called in to bring these conversations back on track and keep things focused on relatable topics as he speaks with The Minstrel and (new “Katanna” inspired character) Nodachi. Hope you enjoy and see ya then!

Criminal And Crimefighter Conversations #82 Spiderous-Man On Picking Sides

Spiderous-Man On Picking Sides

ccc-82-spiderousman

In the original story of “Spider-Man’s” origin from “Amazing Fantasy” #15 “Spider-Man” gets a taste of fame and immediately acts like a total dick. Then some criminal runs past him as some super old security guard is chasing him. For some reason it’s suppose to be his responsibility to stop the guy.  He easily could’ve, but it needs to be pointed out that he literally has seconds to do it. It’s one panel. The next panel the criminal is on the “express elevator”. Then “Spider-Man” REALLY acts like a dick and says “he’s only looking out for number one”. Then as we all know the criminal kills “Uncle Ben”.

It seems like every version since has tried to make “Spider-Man” more sympathetic, but it changes the lesson from “don’t act like a dick” to “let people push you around”.  In the first “Spider-Man” movie now the people the criminal stole from  just cheated “Spider-Man” out of money. Also the criminal usually has a gun in other versions of the story.  Even with his spider powers he ain’t bulletproof. So now “Spider-Man” is suppose to risk his life for people who cheated him otherwise he’s a bad guy?

With that we end this week. Next week check out new “Criminal And Crimefighter Conversations” on Tuesday-Thursday. Hope you enjoy and see ya then!

Ms. Majors On The Story About Her And The Innovator Beefing

Before we get to this comic, looks like early reviews for “Suicide Squad” are coming in and it’s not looking good.  “Comic Book Resources” gave it a pretty good review though.  As I’ve said before I only think it’s going to be okay. We’ll see in a week though…

Anyways back to “Civil War II”. (SPOILERS for “Civil War II” #4)

There’s this whole part where “Iron Man” is going on and on about how he doesn’t want to fight but the “evidence” is “forcing his hand”…. Except the evidence shows the guy who can predict the future has always been right, and “Captain Marvel” used his info to save tons of lives. Even the lady “Captain Marvel” detained hasn’t been proven innocent (though it’s still stupid she did it. Seriously they don’t have other people to take care of stuff like that?). Nothing about the situation has forced “Iron Man’s” hand. That’s makes this whole series feel more and more like pointlessly going through the motions til’ we get to “Marvel’s” new status quo.

Tomorrow we check in with Spiderous-Man has he discusses his uncle and picking sides in a fight. Hope you enjoy and see ya then!

As this comic might suggest “Civil War II” #4 pushed me to really disliking “Civil War II”.   The argument makes no sense;”Ironman’s” position makes no sense; and good characters are being killed for no reason.

(SPOILER ALERT for “Civil War” #4)

So “Iron Man” discovers that this kid that can predict the future can only see the most probable future (which I could’ve swore he already found out last issue) and somehow that’s suppose to change everything. So “Iron Man” assembles the “Illuminati” to tell them this, and they’re basically useless and say little more than “I dunno”. Then dumb stuff happens and it’s finally a face off with “Iron Man” and his heroes vs “Captain Marvel” and her heroes… Except “Captain Marvel” calls in the “The Guardians Of The Galaxy”… I don’t buy it… Even if some tie-in comic explains it better I still don’t buy it… People traveling from space to be a part of this dumb fight breaks my suspension of disbelief.

Next time Ms. Majors talks about this stuff. Hope you enjoy and see ya then!

The History Of Comics With Q-boy #58 The Painstaking Pursuit To Visit The Virtuoso

I decided to make this comic black and white because it is entirely based on “The Spirit” by Will Eisner which I think usually looks best in black and white. I gotta admit that I may have tried to cram too much into one page. Oh well… So let’s get to the panels…

That it for this one. Next time we run into my other character who we haven’t seen in a bit “The Bastardized Ninja” ( who’s adventures you can check out here http://qr.net/bUZ8a . Check out new “Criminal And Crimefighter Conversations” on Tuesday-Thursday. Hope you enjoy and see ya next time!

I don’t get all the hate for “Arrow”.  I’m not trying to argue with anyone about it, but I don’t get it. On the other hand, “The Flash” gets way too big a pass for doing the same things over and over again, and having ridiculous nonsense science all the time. All the “DCComics” “CW” shows are good, but have flaws. The trailer for the next season of “Arrow” looked pretty cool with him training a bunch of new guys.

With all that’s been shown of “Suicide Squad” I’m still not sure about it. My bet is the movie is going to be “okay” to “good”, but not “great”.

That’s it for this week. Next week starts off with a new “The History Of Comics With Q-boy” where there’s a big search for a man known as “The Virtuoso”, and then Tuesday-Thursday there will be more “Criminal And Crimefighter Conversations”. Hope you enjoy and see ya then!

Blind Fury On Teasers, Trailers, & Directive Counterbalance

ccc-27-blindfuryMan that “Defenders” show is going to be nuts!  So far “Marvel’s” got 2 A+ shows on “Netflix” with “Daredevil” and “Jessica Jones”, and “Luke Cage” is looking pretty sweet from the teaser released at “SanDiego Comic-Con”.  The “Iron Fist” teaser doesn’t really show enough to form much of an opinion about it though. If only we got a “Netflix” “Ghost Rider” show instead of him being on “Agents Of Shield” next season and being completely ruined.

Then there’s that new “Dr. Strange” trailer. Honestly it’s a toss up between that and the “Wonder Woman” trailer as to which is better, but the joke at the of the “Dr. Strange” trailer is the best.

Tomorrow The Minstrel, Jade Archer, & Quicker discuss Jade Archer’s frustrations and their respective TV shows and movie. Hope you enjoy and see ya then!

Special-Man, Freedom Female, & The Good Knight On Special-Man’s Treatment In Movies

So last week was “San Diego Comic-Con” where every comic book related (and a lot of stuff that isn’t) thing showed off teasers, trailers, and info of all types.  Arguably the biggest thing was the release of the first trailer for “Justice League”.  Gotta say not looking great… The trailer has little action and look colorless like the last few “DC” movies.  Also there’s a scene that’s has been sold SUPER hard as showing how “light” the movie is suppose to be with “Batman” (acting a LOT like “Nick Fury”) recruiting “The Flash” (whose costume looks dumb) and it’s nothing special.

What did look pretty good was the “Wonder Woman” trailer.  There’s actually some decent action and humor and the lasso looks pretty damn cool.

Another thing that happened last week was “Batman V Superman: Ultimate Edition” was released.  I saw it and it is actually better. Only marginally though. It’s less “jumpy” and some things are made clearer.  A lot of those things aren’t important though.

Tomorrow Blind Fury talks about teasers for his show and The Defense Squad among other things. Hope you enjoy and see ya then!

The Innovator On The Smasher

ccc-66.2-theinnovator

Anyone who’s not a kid or a rube knows that no major characters ever stay dead in comics. The worst thing about killing the “Hulk” is that there was no tension leading up to it.  It just felt like “okay this is what we’re doing for issue 3 ( of “Civil War II”)”. Give the “Hulk” a final rampage, or something huge to fight. Don’t just kill “Banner” basically out of nowhere and end it with that.

That’s how characters always die in comics now. They just suddenly get killed in some event. Then they come back. Rinse repeat. I guess what I’m trying to say is make deaths count.  I don’t care that the character is certainly coming back.  I watch “Dragonball” (which is usually pretty great about making deaths matter despite the fact characters ALWAYS get wished back). Just make remind me why the character is cool and let them do something awesome before they die.

That’s it for this week. New “Criminal And Crimefighter Conversations” Tuesday-Thurday. Hope you enjoy and see ya then!

So “Marvel” has this new version of the “Hulk”, “Totally Awesome Hulk”.  He’s this character “Amadeus Cho” who’s super smart or something.  I don’t know much about him.  Part of “Marvel’s” plans after “Civil War II” is to take a bunch of the younger characters ( “Cho”, “Miles Morales”, “Ms. Marvel”, “Nova”, etc.) and put them together as a new version of “The Champions”.

I also touched on the “Kanye/Kim/Taylor Swift” thing and I don’t even care enough to get into it.
